Don't know if it's an easy fix but a way to perhaps reduce spam ads would be to stop new members putting up ads until they've posted a number of comments beforehand.

A nice idea, but this effectively kills off the background browsers that may be thinking of selling their machine without the hassle of eBay.
Good deals by members that may not be a relatively actice forum user do come up from time to time.

It used to be like that.

Needed 5 or 10 posts before posting in for sale threads. Just meant you got random posts in other people’s posts and then an ad would appear. Just makes a mess of threads

Might be a idea to go back to how it used to be.

I thought it was more hassle than it’s worth.

You get loads more posts of ‘great game’ or ‘good luck with sale’ or even just random rubbish in threads.
Maybe an ID check via PayPal payament of £1 or the like before being allowed to post for sale ads. Means people could be chased up after dodgy deals

Should need to be a Site Supporter before being able to post For Sale ads. PayPal payment minimum £10, confirmed address and ID. And then you also don't get dealers off-loading absolute **** without making a donation until shamed into it by @replicas .

You see - actually like that idea - almost like a pay-it-forward type of thing. Not sure if it would work or if it would be fair, since it could drastically reduce the number of machines for sale on here.

Happy to entertain any suggestions :)
