Raised inserts

My HS2 still has incandescent bulbs and some of the RPM inserts are raised slightly affecting ball travel.

What's the best strategy to sort them out please? Guessing a heat gun and a rubber mallet with a flat piece of wood?

That's what I did on Claire's Diner, but It might be different for a game with clearcoat?

I believe they'll likely pop up over time though

Even if converted to LED? I thought/assumed it was the heat which softened the glue.

Yeah, I think once they've risen ideally you need to take the insert out, sand and clean then reglue. Which is terrifying even on a non cleared game.

Again, I might be wrong

When I did a FH clock I heated up from underneath and used a drift pin to tap them out, as mentioned above cleared all the old glue off from both sides and reset with Gorrila Glue. FH was a lacquered PF so not sure best approach for clear coat.

To localise the heat I made a funnel from tinfoil.

I have tried the hammer from above with block of wood also but if you don't want them rising again or risk damaging the PF best reseating with new glue.

Had to tackle a whole group of inserts on my ACDC a few years ago, they were raised so much the ball would frequently moonwalk horizontally across the playfield while giving me the finger.

Re drift pin... (A socket set gives a whole set of graduated drifts I have used with inserts / hot air gun)
