Preston Pinball

League round 2 details as below:

The second round of the league will be on Monday 30th December between 12-6pm. The format will be like a typical Northern League round where you play each machine once, record your score and have someone verify it. There are a couple of differences:

1/ Games will be played on coin drop, there are change machines in the venue. This is to make sure Joe Public can still play on the games during the time period
2/ You can play a single joker game at the end so you can replay a single game if you want to, the new score will count and not the first, there will be a Joker game section to record down on the score sheet

Games will be set on 3 balls, no extras on standard game settings. Please do not be precious about any credits from replays / matches and just carry on to the next game if you get any. I'll try and clear credits left on games afterwards throughout.

I've been able to get a 6 hour window for this on the proviso that not everyone is there playing at the same time so please don't all turn up at 12 on the dot 🤣

On arrival, go to the lower bar, say you're here for the pinball league and pay £10 for food and drink voucher (usual food options available) and pick up a score sheet from me.

Ideally play in a group so someone in your group can sign your score, I can do this for you if needed if you play on your own. If you are definitely coming then please let me know, I'll have enough score sheets if we have any extra turning up who have not said prior.

Finally make sure you are finished by 6pm, any unplayed games by this time will not count to the final positions.

Round 3 will be Wednesday 12th February, 7 - 9.30pm. This round may have a limit of 20 people due to the format planned
Round 4 will be Wednesday 19th March, 7 - 9.30pm

The top 4 finishers will then be invited to a finals to take place when suitable for all

The league is open to anyone to take part, just get in touch with me if you are not already on the mailing list if you want any further details or to sign up

Round 3 of the league is on Wednesday 12th February, usual 7-9.30pm times.

The format of this one is a little bit different than what you're used to and will hopefully mix things up and change the way some people approach a game. I have tested this at the venue with Tim Knowles and it worked fine for both gameplay and the amount of time it should take all groups to play all the games once and also have time for a short food break too.

People will play in pairs (hence the numbers limit) and have 4 minutes on the machine from plunging the first ball to set a score. Once 4 minutes are up, their playing partner will tap them on the shoulder to take their hands off the flippers, your final score to write down is the score after the bonus has counted and either the next ball starts or the game is finished. The person who kept time will then play their turn on that machine.

A few things to point out:

If you are finished before the 4 minutes are up that is your final score on that game

Once you take your hands off the game, even if there is a ball save or multiball going on you must leave it alone and wait out the time. Your score to record is on the display at the start of ball 2/3 or the end of the game score

Everyone make sure you have a stop watch app on your phone to help with the timing, any phone made in the last 20 years or so I'd imagine will have one. Also make sure you have plenty of battery charge on your phone

If you get a stuck ball, tell your partner immediately to pause the timer. If you cannot free it up with nudging the machine, the key to unlock the coin door will be available to use so remove the glass and put the ball into the plunger lane. Please do this as quickly as you can, don't fanny round asking questions as delays will effect everyone. Remember this is not a "super serious" league

Each pair will begin on one machine and you will then play the machine to your right once it is available from the previous group finishing their game and recording their scores. If you end up at Jaws at the end of the row, cycle back to wait by Venom if you have not yet played it.

All machines are setup so you can hold the start button to begin a new game if the previous one hasn't finished to save some time

Scoring will be like a usual league round over the machines played, just hand over your scoresheet once all 10 machines have been played

I am limiting the round to 22 players, if we hit this number there will be a group waiting next to Venom each time round.

Let me know if you want to take part, usual price and food options for the event

Thanks

Thanks, was good fun and something unique. A format that I think will be used again at some point
Didn't think I would like the time limit, but was more enjoyable than expected. Put a different edge/challenge on it... .although think I cancelled multi-balls and probably other goodies hitting those lock bar buttons randomly in my panic 😄.

Thanks Ian for sorting these events, particularly as local and not over-crowded. I'll miss the next one, but hopefully done enough with the three already behind me, assuming there is some kind of finals?
