I keep being asked about getting powder coating done so I am going to offer it on here the price for a typical stern game would be £150 this would include 4 legs hinges side rails lockbar speaker panel and shooter housing sold colours with or without sparkle the mando avengers and turtles I took to the show where all done in this
You would have to drop the stuff of with me or use a courier or shipping company as you will be responsible for it coming delivery and collections
I have a complete set of armour for modern stern so if I knew you where coming I could already have it done for you just exchange your old armour but it must be in great condition no dented side rails I will dig out some pics of games I have done or if I have done any for people already feel free to upload pics to this thread

Do you know what brand of powdercoating they are using and does that include a clear lacquer?

That is a good price. I paid £175, without the speaker panel (personally I think powdercoating this and the coin door is too much, but each to their own), so that does seem good.

Agreed on the coin door (and speaker panel). In my view the coin door should be unobtrusive. Most, if not all photos in this thread would agree.

Hi Chris, does this include sand blasting black legs and rails so the colour of choice pops more?

Cheers,

Scott

Powdercoating pins, there’s nothing like it, great service offered here.
I really liked the look of the TMNT sparkle at Pinfest.

I don’t know any of the fundamental s about the powder coating I drop them off they do it I pick them up if you are in any doubt about it then please don’t use this service as I have absolutely no control how they come out I don’t want people moaning about they are not happy with it when it’s done
All the stuff I have had done for customers so far they have all been blown away with it

This one’s mine and it’s given an old tired machine a modern day facelift that now looks fab and plays like new … a service like this from Chris is a fantastic asset to the pinball community, thanks for letting us pin heads pimp our pins to within an inch of their life’s!

Thanks Chris another beautiful powder coating work done to my Jurassic Park Premium.

Possibly daft question, but how clean do I need to get the underside of the lockdown bar?

I'm planning to powder coat my FT at some point, but the lockdown bar arrived with loads of rust on the underside and a wrong-sized beer seal. I've got most of the rust off, but the metal is still discoloured and the beer seal obviously needs replacing. How much work do I need to do on the lockdown bar before powder coating? And should I hold fire on replacing the beer seal until I've got the lockdown bar powder coated?

You don’t need to do anything to it. The powdercoating company will shot blast it clean before powdercoating it.

Oh and I didn’t bother putting the beer seal back on (no drinks near the machines in my Games Room 😂)

If you want to put it back on (you would need a new one), it would be after powdercoating.

Wow - I spent nearly an hour trying to clean the rust off the lockdown bar. That is an hour of my life (plus the kilogram of citric acid powder I've just ordered) that I am not going to get back... :(

That’s your cardio for today done!

They also don’t normally fully coat the underside, as you don’t want it to be too tight, mine both have a thin layer and no lacquer.

Chris, what is the best way to remove the armour on a table? Is there a special tool you need? And what’s the process for re-attaching it properly? Thanks 👍🏻
