Pokemon Pinball Hype Thread

Can someone post the links to sites that will send you a stern from abroad, I’m going to look at this option, this pricing thing is the last straw for me, it’s RRP or no purchase going forward.
I would like to add that this is no disrespect to all the shops I buy of in the uk but it’s time to stop getting the **** deal
KMS was the one mentioned earlier.

Shame the whole launch in UK has been shrouded in this mess with pricing

Game looks great really looking forward to getting my premium

Hoping we get some more official videos and I also want to see the art blades.

Also been looking at the expression lighting,

We shouldn't be afraid to purchase from Europe. Yes wiring money probably isn't a great idea but these are established businesses. Pay with a credit card and protect your purchase if there's any concern.
Unless things have changed...that ain't usually an option! Bank wire only....

Stern don't make the best pinball machines anymore, although some Elwin titles remain the best shooters.

That said, a 7 grand pro is decent value as a budget pin. As a consumer, you don't mind it not having the bells and whistles of a JJP, BOF or Spooky if it's 5 grand less.

I love loads of Stern games but they're like Bally Williams to me now. I'll continue to grab them second hand if a good deal comes up. But as a company, Star Wars followed by this nonsense means I'm done unless something drastically changes.

There is no set of circumstances that would see me wire 7 thousand pounds to a company overseas.

My last two nibs weren't Stern and neither are my next two. . . Can't see it changing either.

This narrative about Stern not making the best games any more is for the birds imo. In the last 5 or so years they've released more great games than the others combined. They drop the ball at times and I'm glad Spooky etc are keeping them on their toes but the Stern pile on is a bit internet herd for me. Most reliable, best shooting, deepest coded, quickest from announcement to your door pins in the game. Flawed and by no means perfect but they have their strengths that are getting taken for granted. Incidentally I say this as someone that's staggered by the sheer quality of my current CGC game.

No, that's why I was careful with my wording Andy mate.

I said Stern no longer make the best pinball machines but do still make great games. In terms of flippers, ramps and rules, Elwin remains the best.

But. . . When their product in this country has largely matched the other companies for price, I'm afraid all the bells and whistles matter, particularly mechs & moments.

Stern put less stuff in their cabinets and at 7k, I honestly don't mind. But after years of paying over the going rate, understandably UK buyers are going to be pi$$€d with paying more than the rest of the world. I'm one of them.

For the record, I think Deadpool and Jaws are outstanding. I'm fully aware what Stern do well and I currently have 4 of their machines. In fact I purchased one from this forum last week.

But . . . They have treated UK customers poorly over the years and the last two releases have been a s#!t show. One of which we weren't allowed to buy and the other they are now suggesting customers circumvent their own UK importer.

That's shocking customer service, either that or they just don't care.

Agreed - I'd just like to point out that its neither @philpalmer nor @David retro fault and we all know this

This is has been years in the making!

If prices came down to RRP I think we'd see an increase in sales in the UK and might help this niche hobby grow

Two things I have learnt from people privately messaging me over last couple days.

1. More people are buying from Europe already then I realised.
2. People confirmed if they were getting at RRP they would more inclined to buy
To be fair this has been happening for years particularly before brexit and I doubt the minority of people on pinball info who will buy from Europe over the uk will have a massive impact they are many more retail customers and pin info that will still buy from the uk for peace of mind and hassle free so it’s not the end of the world
I think everyone also forgets the support Ec pinball heaven and Dave have done for the pinball community over the years in supporting shows supplying games paying for guests speakers at shows and many other things

Yeah I won't be buying another Stern in this country until the pricing is sorted. Have Stern treated us badly, or just totally overlooked the situation here? Genuinely don't know. The Electrocoin situation is a joke. Too many greedy people in the pipeline it seems. But yeah Stern do make great GAMES and pretty good pinball machines. Maybe we should all just buy JJP Harry Potters from Phil. Great game and really decent value if we can get some arcade editions over here.

I would imagine the truth as always is probably somewhere in the middle mate. I'm sure Stern were aware of the EC situation but maybe just not motivated to sort it out until now.

I do think they'll be more motivated going forward and suspect their moves to be more active in Europe will shed a bit more light on the UK situation.

I do think they're trying by setting a UK RRP to perhaps put some pressure on Electrocoin? Honestly, I don't really know.
But if they are saying it's now fine to buy from the EU then I suspect it's a shot across the bows of EC, but the people who lose out are going to be Phil and Dave because the price will largely be dictated by EC irrespective of what Stern recommend.

What is abundantly clear is that whilst Stern might be the biggest pinball manufacturer in the world. They have now become the most difficult games to aquire NIB if it now means purchasing from overseas to get the official price.

Collectively, us lot need to make a stand in the UK and not buy any Stern games until they sort out their pricing. If we all decline to buy Pokemon, Stern have to take some notice (hopefully). Buying from Europe doesn't solve the problem; all that does is hurt Phil and David, and as they have done a lot for us, thats the last thing we want.

If anyone has money burning a hole in their pocket, buy a different brands game from David or Phil rather than going via Europe!

JJP, Barrels, Spooky, Dutch, American etc are all matching Stern in terms of games now and beating them on price. Equally Turner Pinball are delivering their limited edition games at Stern Pro prices, and their code updates are coming out quicker too!

My last 5 games NIB have all been from non-Stern companies and I've only picked up Stern machines 2nd hand. Last NIB Stern for me was Mando and that was £6500 in 2021, before the pricing of Sterns went nuts. Things have to change and unless something affects Sterns bottom line, I doubt they'll change anything. If we buy different manufacturer games and avoid Stern, even just for a few months, surely Stern have to take action.

Good idea but getting everyone to line up behind thus will be nigh on impossible. Also stern have already made their sales to EC so it’s up to EC mainly to tell stern it ain’t working.

Might be better to contact stern direct though. Go to the top

I am seriously contemplating selling my Star Wars LE and putting Pokemon in its place.

So what is the landed price from Europe for a Pro or Premium?

And sorry, why the hell is the LE £16k?!?!? Someone is skimming a chuck off of them and having recently got into Pokemon with my boy and knowing the Pokemon market, they will sell too!

From a couple of pages back:

So got the quote back with shipping now from Germany

Pokemon Premium - £7598.60
Shipping - £217.36
Total - £7815.96
Total with VAT - £9379.15

Machine comes with a 12 month warranty

I would much rather give my business to a UK company...

UK price started at £11,495 then gets dropped to £10,495... Or buy via Chris B for £9995 no warranty (which can't happen as Stern give you 12 months)

Appreciate profit has to be made but this is all factored into RRP... So everyone needs to speak up to Stern and highlight the 2 tier system UK has and how that impacts our distribution...

I’d be pretty interested if those prices can be matched for previous titles such as a 50th anniversary Jaws premium? :D
