Playfield wall art LED kits

First playfield done, thinking of going with all clear inserts for the next to really make full use of the RGB capabilities.

Looks better in real life, potato phone having trouble capturing the colours.

Cheers Alan
That looks fantastic. Has anyone else got video of these things in action? Is anyone selling any playfields ready-fitted? I only have one spare PF and it looks like a fun project - Alan are you taking orders? How much for a kit that would work on my TZ playfield?

Thanks dude.

My potato phone really doesn't do the lights justice, looks way better in person, installation is pretty simple, could be done in an evening..... hot glue the lights behind the playfield and tell the software what grid location the light is, pick the patterns and colours you like best, job done.

I had trouble sourcing used playfields (for cheap anyway) hence making my own 'replicas' but would look legit on a TZ I reckon.

Just one question Alan, my next PF is 8ball deluxe, I'm thinking of adding clear/white inserts to really make full use of RGB, but is there any easy to make some individual LEDs ignore the colour profile and display a single colour/white? assuming not but thought I would check before gluing the inserts in.

Hi, sorry there isn't a way to do that unfortunately.

So, got everything on the table and set about doing something ive never done before. Not that it was hard but there is always a method to these tasks and I think it took me around 3hrs

ED I found I t was necessary to tape everything in place first. TNA was more flowing and the inserts held the lamps better so I didn't need the tape

I had a mini glue gun and must have used 2 packets of glue

Here there are both during and finished. It needed me to print some spacers to keep it off the wall 20mm

WOW those look great. Good tip about the tape, allow you to check the route before permanently gluing the wires.

Mine arrived yesterday, very quick delivery from @AlanJ and a well thought out kit as he always does.
How long will it take me to do the playfield swap on TAF? Hint, I have had the spare playfield for 2 years already...

Well its nearly the weekend, hoping to see pics by Monday :D

Spent the day making up the next batch. Only parts I need are the strings of LEDs - order in for those. Take about a week to arrive from Trumps favourite trading partner.

losing the will to live, having stripped 100 wire ends, soldered and tinned up all ready for the leds. 10 esp32s programmed and tested.

Whilst we’re on the subject of all things LED, I made this some time ago:
A clock and light display which also says “LETS PLAY PIN BALL”

Made out of a 1960/70’s philips infraphil infrared heat lamp that was popular at the time.

The software is very similar to the playfield software, where you can decide on led colour patterns, but also what the display in the middle shows.

There is also an inbuilt clock with battery backup and it also will pick up the time from the internet if you connect it to WiFi network.

Quick Video here:

I’ll make more if anyone interested in one.
