Pintrix - B/W lamp/switch matrix diagnostic app

It doesnt do anything you couldnt do yourself with a manual but is a very quick visual way to see how the lamp or switch matrix is connected up, i.e. Wire colours, diode direction, which connectors/pins. Probably more useful to those new to working on pins.

Looks like something very handy to have at shows when things go wrong and you don't have the manuals to hand.

Will get this when they add Sterns to the list.

Thanks for the heads up Kev!

Yeah its nothing you cant already do its just handy, i usually have my ipad with me when looking at pins anyhow.

At £4 it aint going to break the bank either

Hi guys, I'm the developer of this app, I just stopped by to say thanks for checking it out! If you have any questions about it, let me know :)

Welcome to the forum Zzap and congrats on the app. What plans do you have to improve the app other than adding more manufacturers?

Filling it up with more machines is definitely up there. Saving of results and machine selections will be coming through in an update shortly. Other ideas in the works:
- Adding lamp and switch numbers
- Some general reshuffling of the user interface to allow more machines to be searched, favourited, filtered by manufacturer etc. (much more important and more machines are added!)

Other broader ideas for the future:
- Adding dedicated and flipper switches, lamps and solenoids
- Adding some kind of smart suggestions of where to look for errors based on certain patterns of failure

Thanks for having me guys, we won't mention the Ashes eh? ;)

I like the last ' suggestions ' idea which I think is the main thing missing, at the moment it's basically just a nice way not to use the manual but still leaves the diagnosing to you.

Plus it lets you keep track of what's working and not, rather than mark a manual, or photocopy a page etc. And has all the machines in one place :)

Welcome James,

As you are planning to add tables would it be an idea to have a option to list games you own rather than just the full list of games ? I guess it could be a toggle switch similar to the lamps/switch matrix switch. I know its not a big task to search for each machine but if its not much work to add the feature..

Handy piece of software anyhow. ive used it a few time since downloading it last week.

Cheers
Ian

Thanks Ian! I will be adding quite a few things to make it easier to get to specific games. I mentioned 'favourites' before, and I guess that would be used for a list of games that you either own or work on regularly (similar to a favourites list in a web browser).

New version published with the following updates:
- Performance improvements
- Added selected game memory - when pintrix shuts down, your game and matrix selections will be remembered
- Added highlight memory - when selecting other games, highlighted squares are remembered
- On Android - Improved compatibility with some 3rd party screen rotation software

Well done Zzap. Sugestion, please add other stuff outside of the matrixeseses, I had to get a real manual out yesterday to look up the solenoid table! :)

v1.2 has just been released with the following updates:

- Added lamp and switch numbers to match the manuals
- Updated database with Data East / Sega Version 3b games Maverick, Batman Forever, Baywatch and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
- Updated database with Star Wars from 1992! (thanks to a kind contributor!)
