I've just bought a very nice looking Pinbot which has zero flipper response. Due to lack of space, I've had to house it in a lock-up a fair distance away, so any suggestions on what to check would be welcome and all tried at once in the near future! Everything else seems to be working fine. Except for the world economy, of course ;)

Hi,

I know the standard Ebay listing for a duff machine is something like "it doesn't work, but it's probably just a fuse" is usually just BS for "I tried changing a fuse and it still didn't work" but in this case it might be.

There are a couple of things that need to happen for the flippers to work. When you start a game, the flipper enable relay (the big orange one in the middle of the main MPU board in the backbox) should make an audible click as it switches on the power to the circuit. If you turn down the main game volume you should be able to check that it clicks. Power for the circuit goes through the extra power supply board which is the rectangular one bottom right inside the backbox. There is a fuse on there which can blow, check that.

If you hear the click, and the fuse is good, next likely is wiring which will mean following things through the machine. Look for a broken solder connection or wires falling out of a connector. Check the connectors on the MPU board on the right hand side of the board, near the top.

Good luck.

I'm not familiar with the innards of pinbot if it's got a fliptronic board it might be the same issue I had with the shadow at the slam. Duff TIP36C and a blown fuse or 2

Pinbot is a real man, he uses proper switches. Maybe it should be known as the arctronic system :P
