Hi has anyone been to the pinball museum in Hungary? Is it worth a visit how long is needed? Are all the games playable? Thanks

totally worth it. Great chilled vibe and Budapest is beautiful. When I visited last year it was around £10 for a day pass.

Flights by wizzair are quite cheap and plenty of good hotels and excellent places to eat.

It’s amazing, a group of us went there a couple of years ago.
You could/can get a day pass fairly cheaply. Don’t think we booked but it may have changed.
Very much recommended 😊

We flew from Luton last year, was really simple. We used a minibud shared transfer from airport in Budapest to hotel and back. Would recommend, really simple and good service.

I go sometimes a few times a year (Neil posted one of my videos above)

The place is great. A really good mix of games.

Maintenance is on Monday/Tuesday, so if you want to see the most amount of working games then visiting Weds/Thursday is best.

Avoid Saturday daytime as it will be absolutely packed.

It would probably take 3-4 evenings to play everything

Incase anyone is wondering, it costs 10,000-11,000huf by taxi (£20-£23) from the airport to the Jewish quarter, and is the fastest way to get to Budapest. Not a bad price really

Not been, but there is also Game Galaxy to check out in Budapest too
That place is private hire (£450 for 3 hours last time I checked) It seems to have a lot of the machines from the old arcade at the shopping centre across the river, that is sadly no longer

Thanks staying at k & k opera hotel what’s the booking link for shared transfer ? Thx

Went a few years ago with a group of pinballers and it was great but also Budapest was beautiful - make sure to go on the big wheel and take a boat down the Danube 👍

Don't know if they still do it, but it used to be possible to also visit Zen studios (makes of Pinball FX etc.) who are also in the centre of Budapest.

Thanks all headed there this afternoon! Will try and fit game galaxy on Monday while my other two non pinball friends visit a spa!!

We’re having a few days in Budapest in September. Obviously going to the pinball museum. Any further tips on transit to and from the airport. I’ve seen mention above of taxi and MiniBud (which I think is a shared minibus). MiniBud looks OK but has anyone here used it?
Also the BKK transport department says all OAPs regardless of nationality are entitled to free use of public transport. Anyone of the older members made use of that? Cheers. John

To answer my own post. We’ve now returned from Budapest which was BRILLIANT. The Pinball Museum was excellent with a great selection of machines in good working order and very clean. You could happily spend a few evenings here to play all the machines. We used MiniBud shared minibus to get to and from the airport and they were reasonable and reliable. Big bonus was the excellent public transport which was free for us over 65s and with no hassles.

Budapest and Rotterdam are on my list of pinball places to visit soon- as is PBR. Freddie’s in near Frankfurt is also fantastic; not a museum but he opens to the general public the last Saturday of every month. Free play with your entry fee. Will also try and get down to What the flip in York this year

I've been to the Dutch Pinball Museum (and PBR, obviously, as we live locally). It's a great venue. I plan to go to Budapest one day.

I also enjoyed Joystix Arcade Bar in Prague. They don't have the largest selection of machines in the world, but it's very different from a lot of places (mostly DE, Gottlieb and Sega) and the atmosphere is amazing. It was the first time I'd had any time on a DE Star Wars in a reasonably quiet dark venue, and - when I lit the thing up - it was incredible.

Still wouldn't wish to own one, but it's a great pin to try in an half-empty graffiti'd underground bar.
