I bought a pin2dmd from the first group buy (thanks madnet) sadly it's still sat in it's packaging not seen the light of day! I'm thinking on fitting it to my DW but as far as I know there is no colour been done for this pin, also I need to read up on pwering it in a wpc pin. I had a ****ty led dmd panel fitted to DW but fed up of segments failing with stuck lines etc!

Can you clue me up guys or should I sell it?

Cheers Ronnie

I'd put it in DW Ronnie. It does remove a high voltage circuit from the pin.

If no colourisation currently available (looks like it was abandoned) just override the palette to same colour but different shades, always looks better than any half baked attempt at colour. Once overridden it would appear similar to stock Orange but you are free to use any colour that complements the pin e.g. White or Blue.

I have a blue config file I used in FT before adding a colourisation can send you it to get started assuming it compatible.

Thanks Chris, I think it needs 5v which I think is already well loaded on wpc! How did you power your on FT?

Cheers Ronnie

Hi Ronnie. I have about 5 off these fitted and feel they enhance the pin, even though there might not be a specific colorization done. They can be set to use 4 colours that you can change and does give a decent colour. This link details where to pick up the power on various board sets, https://pin2dmd.com/hardware/
I would give it a go, you can easily sell it on if you are not happy with the outcome.

Cheers Mike, will have a look

I wrote a thread on here describing how to apply basic colours using the Pin2DMD editor, if shades of one colour doesn't suit, actually used Dr Who as an example;

I'm sure one of the community artists will tackle this title at some point but may help in the meantime.

It needs 5v right? This worries me!

Important !!! Please NEVER use the 5V rail from your pinball machine or the 12V from the original DMD power connector. You are risking to overload and destroy your pinball hardware if

Just take it from the relevant board stated here:

I've used those plastic taps on a couple of pins but on one I squeezed two wires into a single trifuricon connector cause the tap wasn't making good contact.

if you follow the pics from @Arv you won't go wrong never had any issues taping from the power driver board.

Ok thanks, so it's 12v then, I will dig out the DMD and look at fitting it

Thanks Ronnie

Has there been anything usable for Twilight Zone at all? I did contact Vitaliy Bobrusev from the list but he says he never finished his efforts.
mike.

I see the DMD came with a 12v loom already pinned etc, will have a go over the weekend. I don't have a healthy plasma to put it anyway all seem to be outgassing!

DO NOT run off the DMD power cable. Unplug both ends and leave.

Take 12v off the picture Arv posted.

Doctor Who looks pretty good and I think a file is available (I do not have that one for a real pin).

Sounds good I would be keen to get my mits on that file, do you know from who (no pun intended)

Cheers Ronnie

Got it fitted this morning working well, I just plugged and played, the white makes the orange look washed out, I guess I need to change something in settings but not looked yet.

Thanks Ronnie

@ronnie63 did u see my post a few up, our posts clashed. I have some DW dumps here and could write a new default palette for you if that helps. Actually, I could probably set something better for the scoring screen too as that displays most of the time in game. Might be a good stop gap until a full colour arrives, I'd have a go myself if I had the machine.

Brilliant that would be great if you could, I forgot to look at your link but will now

Cheers Ronnie

Astyy, I had a quick scan of the thread and the Dr Who logo looked great, not had a chance for a proper read! But do you have something that i could just load onto the card that would work?

Cheers Ronnie

Ronnie, I've dusted off the editor and my DW dumps. Certainly can send you a file that will change the palette to black/blue/yellow/red per DW logo, this will apply to the whole game though, so whilst the logo may look good the colour scheme is unlikely to suit other scenes. Worth a try if only to see your DMD in multi colour! PM me your email address and we'll get the process started

Ronnie here's a link to a blue pallette I used on FT just to illustrate 1 colour many shades approach when no complete colourisation is available.

To install on SD card;

1. Backup the current pin2dmd.pal file by renaming it to old-pin2dmd.pal
2. Copy over the blue-pin2dmd.pal
3. Rename blue-pin2dmd.pal to pin2dmd.pal

Cheers

Just loaded this file Chris, it looks not bad but some of the aminations are a bit too blue so you can't make out faces etc.

Not been able to try Astyys one as it's downloading as a text file and I can't sort it to pal!

Cheers Ronnie

Hi Chris yeah we could do that, not sure I want to dabble much into the pallette stuff! I would rather steal someone else's work lol
