does anyone know how to register pin2dmd editor click on register but id doesnt take me anywhere just a bunch of boxes

What exactly are you trying to do, some dmd animation editing (colouring) or activate a evo board?

You should see a dialog like this:



Click choose, and select the license .key file for your pin2dmd. Make sure you are using the latest version as there were bug(s) in this area in the past. I don't remember if any confirmation dialogs are shown beyond this point, but once you've selected the .key file, you will then be able to do real pin exports.

sheers guys problem i had was just splash screen of editor kept coming up nothing else so tried lots of different java and lots of pin editor versions finallly got v 2.5.0.6 to work but all i get is box as above and dont know where to get key from,it is linked to my pin2 as i can change colours and settings would try key manually but dont know how to get it off the pin2dmd. all im trying to do is create the pallette file to put on the micro sd card on dmd which was generated in pinball browser

You must have matching versions of Java and the editor - use 64bit. The license file should have been provided when the display was registered - did you register the display or someone else?

I want to say that you can just use pin2dmd.exe to upload a custom palette if you aren't interested in all the colouring tools, but I am a bit out of my comfort zone there so maybe someone else can offer some advice.

thanks for help slippifishi , madnat registered it wasnt sure if you connect it to pc could it be got off dmd ,yep im very much out of my comfort zone aswell and im getting little snipits here and there how to do things but some are going back 5 years lots of different threads and posts so getting very confusing to be honest

I don't think there is a way to retrieve it off the DMD, but I could be wrong. @MadNat might still have access to the file from when it was registered, if you are lucky?

Worst case, a fresh small donation to pin2dmd and I'm sure lucky over there can generate a fresh file for you - worth reaching out to him if MadNat can't help.
