Hi Im installing a pin2dmd in my Data East Star Wars. Can anyone tell me the best place to get he 5 or 12v supply from on this pin? Can I use the power cable from the old display like on my fish tales?
I guess I can but wanted to ask first.
thanks
steve

I followed this and used those splitter scotch things pin2dmd often comes with.
Later upgraded to a board that has fuses on ,but had to get it from the states.

I did it on my old Star Wars a couple years back - just looked and from a message to a friend apparently I had a free 12v pin (#3) and a free ground pin on connector CN6 on the power board ….. wired it from there.

Please do check schematics and take appropriate measurements and checks etc before following this ….. in case I was talking bobbins. 😂 I can’t quite remember but pretty sure that’s what I did

Edit - just saw the post and photo above. So yes that’s what I did - just added wires to existing connector

2 other issues I had with it on Star Wars .

1. Found the didplay was tight up against the Perspex dmd screen pushing it out. Had to fashion some small standoffs to get a better fit.

2. For some reason with the Star Wars Pin2dmd code when you go into diagnostics the screen is just blank. Spoke to others that had this too. Annoying. The only work around was to pop out the SD card to revert to factory setting. Do what you need, then reinsert SD card.
Perhaps the code has been updated since and this issue sorted ?

I'd forgotten about that. Someone on here 3d printed some special standoffs intended for this use

Thanks for all the answers. I will look into it this afternoon.
Thanks
Steve
