Not all ebay auctions go mental ....thankfully

Perhaps another reason that machine prices have declined is be that Sterling is currently stronger against the EUR than it has been for the last 3 and 1/2 years.

Nice one George Osborne, the UK pinball buyers friend!

As i pointed out these games I believe are being brought in from Spain, where no doubt they were operated to within an inch of their lives.

Are you seriously saying that uk operators look after their machines ???? lol

Some U.K. op's did and still do a great job. It was just a few that gave everyone else a bad name.

But compared to the continental guy's that operate machines, they are saints.

Hi Guys,

So i bought a bulk load of machines here because I wanted a couple of them, and didnt need the rest so sent them over to the uk and stuck them on ebay. Be fair to me guys, i listed all machines at 99p no reserve, with NO reserves and NO buy it Now. I made it clear in the listing that they would not be pulled early, and I listed them with 100% honest descriptions, highlighted any faults such as the line missing on the DMD of one game. I also took plenty of photos, especially close ups of any damage to the machines, such as the closeup of the flipper area of ToM. I havent hidden anything. I was as surprised as you guys as to the final price of ToM, but i havent told anyone what to bid !

anyway, just wanted to clear that up. oh and no, it was not me importing pins from Spain or Portugal 2 years ago, I sold a couple of machines last month that i didnt have space for, and have last week sent those over. Thats it, I havent sent machines over before.

I would appreciate not being "tarred with the same brush" as whoever it was that imported them before.

/me now watching for everyone to list their ToM;s with BIN of £2900 lol

Hi Kev, I can understand why you feel you need to defend yourself but having read back over the previous threads don't think anyone was being overly critical of you, the seller. There is a comment linking this to shipments from Spain so maybe there is a negative connection there. I think some people on these forums are very sensitive to the madness of the prices, hence this thread. Having been on here a short while I can only start to imagine what others feel but to have been involved in something as a hobby and to then be priced out of it is something I have been exposed to with classic cars. For some their attitude is to buy sensible and that might mean they never own a machine, which is a shame but at times the way life goes.

But this is not the sellers problem, as you mention, you didn't tell someone to buy it for that price. Now how much can you get me privately a White Water or Medieval Madness?
wink-1.png

Hi Kev,

Sorry my comments weren't meant to be a direct criticism of you, just gobsmaked that a TOM is now worth almost £3k. Guess it's a matter of timing. I like the machine, but I'm not sure I like it that much (Obviously more than happy to sell mine for that amount!)

Good on you for bringing machines over, that can only be a good thing
smile-1.png

Not aimed at you in the slightest, but my gripe really is with a couple of other ebay sellers who somehow manage to achieve record prices within 1 hour of listing and yet then have sales that seem to mysteriously fall through and the items need to be relisted over and over again (each time falling victim to the record early bidders again:suspect:)

Thanks for the feedback guys, no offence taken here
wink-1.png
just didnt want people to get the wrong idea about me ! I still cant believe the finish price myself..

Just goes to show if someone wants it bad enough they will pay for it.

Good , Fair or Bad condition that's there problem.

Checkpoint finished at £531, Now thats a fair price. So still some hope out there.

Hi Kev

Thanks for clearing that up.

Accept my apologies  , Sgt GrizZs intell let him down this time and my 'reliable' source clearly got you mixed up with the chap from a few years ago.

Anyone who saw some of the machines from the Portugeezer , as he became known

round here, will understand why I felt the need to post a word of caution.

Cheers

I guess it is not so much the price but condition, relative to price.

A mint game of anything is always going to add a significant premium.

What is crazy is the amount of buyers who are unable to make this distinction.

Still, I did the same on my first pin by paying double 'fair' value so I guess it takes a lot of time to know what to look for. Even if you are mega picky ( hands up here ) you still have to know what to look for..........I still don't look at boards except for a quick scan re battery damage as don't really know what else to look for.

Funny thing is I had it for sale all weekend at the slam for £1700 and would have taken £1600 but no one wanted it. Probably gonna keep it if no one buys it on the bay and pay off the mortgage in ten years the way this crazy hobby is turning into a rich mans playground
wink-1.png

Blame on all the footballers who have games rooms and earn 20k a week;)

It does look rather a nice one the one thats just popped up on the bay.

Like you said GrizZ the flood gates would open.

Yup, nothing like a ropey one hitting top dollar to bring em out from under the covers, met the gentleman listing the current one, really nice bloke, he purchased my TAF some years back, I ended up winning it back on ebay about 18 months later, glad I did, sentimental, the TOM looks a peach, nicest so far by miles, wonder what it makes, place your bets, I recon 3K

Even has gold wire forms and he doesn't even mention it!!

Nicest I have ever seen hit ebay......

Kevin Pitt' date=' post: 1693529 said:
and its all my fault :|

sorry guys lol.

Not your fault at all
smile-1.png
, you listed a TOM which was “as described", straight up with detailed pics showing issues and a detailed listing, what people choose to pay is their own business and I personally think the TOM is under valued compared to some of the trophy titles, it tends to follow when a machine makes way above what is deemed market value for an example in "x" condition that other owners capitalise on the moment, like a wave if you wish, climb on before it washes out.

This often results in subsequent machines reaching higher peaks before the customer base backs off and the prices drop again.

Well average TOMs are now worth £2500, 3 members offered £2500 for this one, about time TOM got the recognition it deserves

Incorrect, the £2500 offers were all the sellers counter offers, the first of which the potential buyer declined. eBay is very misleading when it comes to this, I only know having experienced it myself and thinking "but I didn't turn down £x"

I ended up with Will's TOM that was in that auction!I didn't pay £2500 but I would of been happy paying that as its such a good pin.

I recently bought the plasma mod off you Judge
