Northern Lights

I missed it as didn't know but my kids who live a few doors away took some pics and a local person did the church ones 😎

@Lecari

You can get alerts from aurorawatch UK.

Most times in the UK you will not get to see the colours unless you get your phone out and start taking pics. When the colours are there they are usually very feint like in @Judderman first pic. Look out for milkyness or brightness or what looks like vertical clouds or very feint green or red colour and point you camera that way and take snaps. Play around with camera settings and longer exposures to get the colours. The camera sees loads more than the naked eye. It's quite rare to see the colours in the uk with the naked eye but last night was an exception.

It's best to be somewhere that there is little or no light pollution. I'm lucky to live in a dark skies area so they even changed all the street lights to point downwards a few years back so we get very ittle light pollution. At night you can hardly see the village from the hilltops around. So i can see northern lights from my back garden even though I am central in the village. Just find the darkest place closest to you.
