My JD was making a high pitched squeal on power up, it was suggested to replace the caps on the audio board, so i procured 2 35v 10000 uf electrolytics, fitted them.
now on power up it makes a loud buzz and no sound so i swapped the caps back to the originals, same loud buzz.
definitely haven't mis fitted any ribbon cables so not that, ideas please?
oh and caps definitely fitted the right way round.

Check continuity from the cap pins to where they should be going.
If open circuit bridge with a wire.

Its easy to rip out the through hole plating on these boards when removing the larger caps.

Fantastic, it was exactly that, thank you, although the new caps haven't stopped the squeal so it was a bit of a pointless exercise but at least i have sound again.
