No speech in Flash Gordon

Finally got Flash Gordon setup again after the UKPP and it seems to have developed a problem either at the show or in the car on the way home. Game plays as normal and I get the background noise but I don't hear any of the speech calls at all.

I've had a fiddle with the speech pot on the S&T board but nothing happening. Any ideas where i should start looking?
 
In the settings? You'd need to check the manual to see which setting it is, but I know there is one to change between effects/beeps and bongs and speech.

Thanks mate, I'll have a look but it was all working before and at the start of the Pinball Party and I didn't change the settings while I was there (and had the keys with me so I don't think anyone else could have). I think it's something thats stopped working rather than a settings change :)
 
Hi,

Is the general illumination working?. On the Squawk & Talk audio board, the -5v for the speech chip is produced from the G.I. Ac supply.

Yes, GI is working fine

Yes, J1 is keyed so only goes on 1 way and J2 was on the same way when it worked before. I just tested what happens if I reverse J2 and its the same either way. All of the sound effects (or seems to be) plus the background rising hum but no speech at all.

When I get chance this week I'll take the board and reflow the header pins to see if that changes anything plus look for any other cold solder joints but just seems odd that it's just the speech that's gone. I should also mention that I'm seeing the full 5 flashes from the S&T board on start up.

Any further ideas where to look?
 
Cannot remember why I had to change all the caps ,was it back ground or speech,Dave is the man for this,

My board was serviced by The Legend only a few months ago and he completely recapped it. This is why I'm thinking it must be something simple as the board has had a load of work done recently.

I'll swap your sound effects for my speech!!!! ****ing pinball machines!!

Tell me about it. Classic Bally's do not make for an easy pinball life. Should have a Paragon coming in soon as well, I must be mad :cuckoo:
 
Cool, did you get that one stormy was advertising? Nicest one I've seen. Paragons a great game, just keeps me going back for more!

So many people lately going for the older 80's stuff.
Which is great to see.
Next time I'm in your area Chris and Gaz I will be popping in for a game or two.

Not yet mate, tbh not had much time to mess about with it yet. Still need to pull the board out and reflow the headers....hopefully get chance to have a look at it tomorrow :)
