hey fellas

Stern Spiderman, all working except no flashers. all the coils work fine. it has a lighting mod in the backbox (@Judge Dreads) powered by J11 on the CPU board, that lights an RGB strip, and a second little white box, powered from under the playfield near the transformer, that lights up the speakers - so i suspect this first. but i might be wrong as i don't know much. i don't remember if the flashers ever worked tbh, i was never looking for them.

fuse F10 checked fine. all test points good except missing the +50V (though i can't see anything not working, and i don't think the flashers use 50V so probably not a genuine finding. i think they all use 20V).

looking in the manual but not sure what i'm looking for. all flashers connect to J6 and J7 i think, so i reseated those.

hint, tips, ideas, suggestions please?

Just to confirm, when you put it into flasher test mode with the coin door shut you get none of them working? Also, have you swapped out a few bulbs just to rule that out?

i've not tried swapping any bulbs in and out, but yes, in test mode (cycle, or individual) with the door closed, i get no flashers

Hopefully you can see the two white boxes in this pic (I undid one end of the fluorescent tube)

The speaker light is powered here just inside the coin door -

haven't followed those wires yet as I'm hoping someone will tell me there is a common transistor or bridge to test. And if so, do I have to take the board out, or just turn the power off?

Maybe all your flasher bulbs have blown :)
i hope not. i tried replacing one (a fancy bumpy LED thing) with a standard #89 but nothing changed and i don't think i proved or disproved anything

dan if the fuse is fine then test the voltage at the flasher and report back
i wasn't sure if there should be power at the flashers all the time or not, so i put it in test at Doc Ock flasher and only measured 0.3V

another thing i just noticed - the left ramp isn't registering, as in the white spidey arrow won't turn off after shooting it, even though both the entry and the exit switches register in switch test. what's that all about?

Looks like what a stern shacker motor connects too (2 connection at the front left / right and one at the back)
As for the switch working in test ,is it in service!! It could be in the out of service mode?

I took that daft thing out of the backbox as it was annoying me anyway.

After I had a good game just now I noticed that some flashers were going so I went back and found that it's not all of them but just most of them.

/sigh. I will have to see if there is a pattern I suppose. And if there is? Is there a common transistor or chip or fuse behind groups of flashers on SAM Sterns?

Edit: in test mode, none of them work. But after a game, some do.

dan make sure you have the coin door closed or the interlock switch pulled out when you are it test mode or testing with your multimeter as if yo uDONT you will have no power ie 20v to them i suspect you have a load of blown bulbs spidey is a bit bad for this my doc occ flasher you would be lucky if you got 3 games out of it before it blew i would replace them with led ones
