Hi guys. I have started to get an issue with the upper right flipper. as soon as the machine is powered on the coil energises and the flipper is held up. it only goes down as soon as the machine is switch off. all the flipper mech is moving freely when off and the EOS is open with that seems to be the correct gap. same as the other two really. I have swapped the flipper opto board with the other side and also one out of my RS. Also swapped with a known good new coil just to cancel that out. there were signs of an issue before hand as that flipper would sometimes stay held longer than it should but would eventually drop. Am I right in thinking this is most likely a transistor issue on the power driver board? This is my first WPC95 and want to make sure I am not missing anything. the transistors seem to be Q84 (TIP36C) power and Q86 (TIP102) Hold. Obviously best to replace both. \
thanks

Dug this out of an email @pinballmania responded to me a few years back regarding the same issue on a friends Taf.Great advice and was spot on. Checked and replaced TIP36C and TIP102 and the game been flawless ever since..........

At least the TIP36c will be blown on each fliptronics board and maybe the TIP102 too. Measure with a meter on diode setting and compare to adjacent devices

I suspect that the flipper coil is short circuit or the diode across the tabs is either broken or defective or reversed.

Hope this helps

That’s great thanks. Yes that’s what I was thinking. The original coil was looking pretty dodgy. That’s why I put a new one in. But obviously the damage has already been done. Will change those resistors out then and hopefully that will sort it [emoji106]

You should also check the coil resistance to see if that needs replacing or not (doesn't matter that it's new as it has been operated by a blown transistor so that may be enough to damage it). This needs to be done at the same time as the transistor swap, before applying any power.

Thanks will do [emoji106]

It is easier to replace both transistors while you have the board out and the coil.

Why not treat both flippers to a new coil and flipper rebuild. Gameplay will be improved.

Yes will do thanks. Have orderEd rebuilt kit and the correct red coil. Also both transistors. Hopefully will be here in the next few days and will get it all done. Hopefully they will sort the issue. 👍

Just to let everyone know, just changed both transistors and put a new coil in and it’s all working fine now. The transistors were knackered [emoji106]
