JJP GNR Pinball

I've just had a look at the gameplay on the standard edition and I think it's pretty good with decent flow. Add in the build quality, toys, sound, theme and screen integration, wi fi & bluetooth innovations etc and I think it's probably better value than the LZ Pro.

build quality ?!

I’m with Gonzo on this one I have The Hobbit and owned WOZ a long time before a close mate bought it and it’s never missed a beat since.
Both these pins are on another level to anything Stern has done and will ever do regards Build quality and this is from someone who loves stern pins too!
Best Stern I have owned upto now is DP and like the aforementioned it too has never missed a beat and theme wise it’s my dream pin I’d never sell and a absolute thing of beauty.
Before anyone says “but my DI had this or that” all I can go on is the two I’ve owned and soon GnR will join the family.
Most pins have a few teething problems regardless of manufacturer some a lot more than others but to say JJP quality is laughable is far from the truth Neil but I’m guessing you doing a pinside and stirring up the fanboy nest again you naughty boy leave my beloved JJP alone and go away.

no I think it’s hilarious that someone who hasn’t even owned one posts about build quality.

Every JJP I’ve played has had build quality issues so you Must Be The One! maybe in your old age the eyes are quite aren’t what they once were 😂 (hides)

My DI has had so much work done - it now plays the shoop shoop song by Cher in multi ball.

james I hope you put a fiver in the boys bank for that photoshop he did above.

Clearly the superior mechanisms and circuitry of the JJP require a tweak on the odd occasion such is the complex nature of the innovation.

But it's a bit like comparing my friends Bentley (I've never owned one but apparently they're okay) to Mrs Gonzo's Volkswagen Touran 1.9 TDI (may it rest in pieces).

I had a DI, TH and WOZ.
They are without doubt great machines.
I did have issues with DI which took a while to sort out but were sorted.
The Hobbit Collywobbles has and won’t part with was mine and when I got it after a few plays a head rolled down the playfield 😂😂😂
But there was a fix for it and that got sorted too.
What I will say is that unlike Stern that are aware of problems and either do nothing or take so long to acknowledge, reply or rectify, JJP are very responsive and come up with a solid fix pretty quickly and you know where you are, that’s helped greatly due to Phil being the sole distributor.
All pinballs are unreliable, anyone buying one thinking different needs to get another hobby

VW will be super more reliable than the Bentley and not rattle as much.

JJP isn’t just tweaks, the construction of the game isn’t different to anything anyone else makes. Flimsy quality and fit and finish that aims to be high but sadly falls short. Even in GNR there are two parts that have fallen apart in nearly every game made and tweaks that Eric has had to highlight that they got wrong on build.

stern get a load of agro- some of it is deserved a lot of it isn’t though but in my view it’s neck and neck with Stern thanks to Phil the support for JJP is 200 times better certainly.

If you want to talk about serious quality and build uplift then CGC are by far and away the leaders.

Of the 25 odd NIB games I’ve bought CGC has by a mile the best build quality. MB, AFM and MM without any significant issues. They had the replacement ball guide which they shipped directly to owners on AFM and the ROM update which again they notified owners and didn’t hide it.

Neil.

It wasn't a serious appraisal mate, just silliness really. My favourite two machines are Stern although JJP are stunning and I'm very keen to get one.

As for the Touran . . . It's dead. Even the VW specialists couldn't fix it and it. We spent £11k on it and literally scrapped it for less than a year later.

No real problems with my DI yet, just adjustments. Can’t complain about build quality. Not bad for a new pinball manufacturer.

I have a CGC remake with no issues but you would have thought that due to the fact they were 90’s machines tried and tested. Known issues etc. New electronics have been solid as well though but the previous owner told me he changed out the main board under the playfield.

Lets not talk about TZ.

As for cars, we have Toyota’s. Shame they don’t make pinballs😂

go take a look at Bentley I think three years voted most unreliable car in the UK. I wouldn't touch one such is the agro a friend of mine has had with his. Incidentally VW owns Bentley!

Cheers,
Neil

I think the point I'm making is that JJP is no better than Stern. they are as bad as each other which isn't good enough I agree.

Never owned a JJP. Let's be honest, Guns n Roses makes Led Zeppelin look like a Fisher Price my First Pinball. Do JJP have any games that shoot as well as Sterns LCD top 5 though? Ignore Pirates, you can't get one. I'd say probably not.

I have a Pirates and I’d put it up there with the best Sterns. I’ve also had no major problems with it. One spotlight LED came loose, the auto plunger needed adjusting, and one spinner switch was mounted backwards (!) from factory. Apart from those it’s been as reliable as any other game I’ve owned.

IMO JJP innovate, especially playfield design, toys, mechanics, whereas Stern copy and paste. Stern tend to get the best licences/themes however they rarely do them justice. Stern are also guilty using Marvel themes too much.

Stern were the first (and only) company to put a projector into a pin. No one said a word! If Jack had done that we'd all be going bonkers. They're a long way from perfect but man they do make some epic games.

Let’s see a video of the lockdown bar and how hard it is to put the glass in the game.

Wonka was my first pin, a NIB, and has been flawless from day one; I did have a noisy transformer which was quickly replaced via Phil.

Removing/replacing the lockdown bar is so easy on Wonka, albeit a little squeeky, and so much quicker than GB.
