Nbafb wpc95 flipper issue

Hi guys. Got an nba in with a flipper issue. The right flipper just holds up when a game is started. Is there any known causes for it or just a lot of variables? There’s a dodgy hack job on the coils I can’t get my head round why it has been done. Been done both sides. Also left flipper opto’s are normal but the right one has a different type. Not seen this type before. Will grab some pictures. Sure they work the same anyway. Will order the correct ones. Could a board issue cause it? Transistors or anything

That sounds like a blown drive transistor but might be prudent to check the switch matrix first in case there is a flipper opto locked on.

First job you need to do is remove that big bodge job wireing
Time to get the cutters out

Thanks guys for your help. Think I may have sorted it now [emoji1696]. Yes Chris thanks. That’s all going. No idea why that was done. I have new complete flipper mechs on there way. So will sort it all out. I think the issue was an in correct flipper opto board fitted. Driver board isn’t in the best shape. Changed a couple of transistors. But think the opto board was the main issue

That cabling in the second picture looks like it’s just bypassing/shorting the diodes so will be multiplying any problems you were having.

It has been known for the white plastic opto interrupters not to be very efficient at blocking the led beam. If you haven’t sorted it, might be worth testing the opto blocking. Use a credit card or something similar to block the beam.

New black interrupters are better than the white ones.

Thanks mate. I will try those. Definitely the wrong type anyway. Put a spare board in and it seemed fine.
