Mylar over magnet core

Has anyone just put Mylar over the core ? Seems logical to stop it wearing and the paint too .. suppose it wouldn’t affect the magnetic field too much ? Metal ring and Mylar just for the surrounding paint seems over engineering a simple solution … or am I missing something

The heat from the magnet core is the issue… it’ll kill the adhesive

I thought about doing this on my Kong magnet but decided against it, actually quite like the rustic dented look on the surround now!

Ahh never thought about that .. suppose that’s why Addams locked on magnets burn the playfield
