Wanted My next pin… it’s been a while!

I’m busy downloading it onto the kids Switch!
Ah I got ya, yeah Whitewater has a lot of fans, if it was Whirly I could tell you a lot more about it :D

Have you checked out the Williams Zen pinball app? its on all the consoles, mobiles etc, that covers a lot of the 90s B/W catalogue, not the same as the real thing, but might give you a flavour.
This app is amazing! Just been playing for 2hrs straight across a WW, FT and IJ - gives you a really good feel for the games, and if you set to Practice mode you can start levelling up pretty quickly to see how much depth there is.

Nice! Its my go to when its a bit too chilly to play the games for long in the garage, there are a few anomalies in some of the games when it comes to physics, but the rules and artwork are spot on.

IMO the graphics (despite the embellishments) are way better than they look in the preview when deciding whether to buy or not - it’s about as close as you can get to standing there and playing it.

I also feel like that having just played some of the highest rated pinball games in the world… Baywatch is massively underrated!!! Honestly I think I’d prefer to own that over a couple in IMDPs top ten. #justsayin

There should be a button or setting to turn off the "enhancements" and just play the standard table. I will say virtual has trouble recreating the satisfaction of some shots, for example, smashing down a drop target, or hitting a bash toy feels way better in real life, with the sound, feel and momentum of a metal ball, just a few pixels doesn't quite convey that. So it tends to flatter more flow'ey games with loops and ramps as that seems more satisfying on a little screen.

Ratings are to be taken with a massive pinch of salt, you might hate the games I like and vice versa, it also doesn't take into account costs. Is MM better than Baywatch..... yeah maybe, but its also 4x the price!

The IMDP also overrates the older pins. ToM better than Stern Godzilla? Yeah, right...

I think Pinside is more realistic, although they tend to overrate the 'new hotness'.

Yeah IPDB doesn't seem to have anything from the last few years!?!?
That's the nostalgia factor at play, for someone who loved ToM or Addams in the bar in their 20s, playing one today brings back those youthful carefree memories, more than an objective view of the game IMO.
Pinside has an ownership bias too, even if its subconscious, people who drop 10k on a game obviously like it, and like to be reassured by that new shiny game being rated near the top of the tree.
