I am repairing a Rocky and Bullwinkle for a mate - that is used in his arcade so ALWAYS has issues!
I'm having a problem with a Super VUK. I replaced the coil with a new one a month or so back because it was stuck on. Replaced the transistor and pre-driver at same time. Sometimes the switch for the Super VUK is not registering because the plunger is not being taken all the way down by the weight of the ball - the plunger is real tight in the sleeve.
My question is does a coil sleeve always need to be used in a coil?
When I bought the replacement coil for this SVUK - it came with a coil sleeve pre-installed (more fool me for not taking note of whether the old one did or not!) so I just installed it as is. However I just looked at the manual now and the parts diagrams are not showing a coil sleeve on the VUK or Super VUK (and quite a few of the other coils also) though they do on many of the other coils - but I know how unreliable manuals can be!
Will I do any damage if I don't have a coil sleeve in this coil - I have a feeling the plunger would more freely move if there was no sleeve in.
Thanks
Andy
