Hi

Do people bother to do this please ?

Is it worth it ?

Thank you

I remember looking into this a while back.
Price was no better than if I took out a separate policy. Apparently because they said I could only use the NCD against one car - which seemed to make it rather pointless to me.

(This was maybe 8 years ago though - maybe things have changed)

I'm with Admiral multi for the 5 cars, worked out well for the kids

yeah, 4 cars on Admiral works out cheaper than others.

Looked into it once (years ago) seemed anything out of the ordinary, imports, modified etc they wouldn't cover.

Our old classic has a couple of mods, only window tints and none standard exhaust but didn’t have any issues. Maybe different with other mods though?

LV= gave me an excellent deal on two cars. Bizarrely it was cheaper if I added on my wife as an extra driver than just having me on them.

I tend the find it hit and miss depending what vehicles you have.

Have used it in the past for cars but last time I checked it worked out cheaper separately.

Also I always used to do multi on my motorbike policies until I bought another bike a few years ago and they refused to add it to my policy as the ages between the existing and new bikes were too far apart, so tried each on their own policy when looking and found it to be cheaper insuring the new one with the NCD and the other 2 without.

Thank you for the responses.

Admiral seems to offer very good value. I was surprised at how little no claims bonuses are actually worth these days. Back in the 90s, they might have got you 60 per cent plus off, now it is more like 30 per cent.

It is 1 pence cheaper to keep my camper van on the drive v the garage !!!

If you have not shopped around for cover over the past few years, it is worth doing so.

I tried admiral as I wanted a car as well as a van. It was only a small difference between adding two normal quotes together.

I did say I could only drive one at once!

My van is insured for business and socal use. It is not as if I would spend more time on the road.

My insurance is extremely high anyway being a diabetic on a 3 year renewed licenese. Even with a 9 years no claim discount, I still pay £1200 a year.

I’ve got Admiral multicar, Definitely works out cheaper than doing them separately not to mention the ease of renewing one policy compared to several.

You can only use your No Claims Bonus against one policy anyway. You're not able to use the same NCB against two different cars (though you could earn two separate NCBs on two different cars, for example). This was a bit frustrating when I had two cars!

Didn’t find it worth it at all with Churchill or admiral or NFU who I have policies with, they gave quotes more expensive than the renewals from current insurers

For motorcycle insurance I use https://www.cornmarketinsurance.co.uk/
As a member of the IAM I get a discount. They have no issues with a 2001 R1 and a 2016 S1000XR. When I set it up they had to work out which bike was the higher risk and the R1 was, despite being a 1/5 of the value.
Technically, one bike is free, though usually the policy is £15 more than the best quote I could find.
To go with the usually motorbike generalisation, I guess they realise I can only crash one bike at a time. ;)
If there were more people on the policy, I suspect the figures would change rapidly.

Yeah I mean its not a big suprise I guess. But I'm not even sure you got to get additional NCB with a 2 car policy (could be wrong - since the price was no better there seemed little point in pursuing it).
Probably wouldn't matter anyway now - both my cars are modified now so I use Adrian Flux :)

I went through a broker for fleet insurance , was 3 vans and 2 cars but now only 2 vans and a car. Car is private owned but vans through company. However 1 van is converted for family use. Each Vehicle would be around £850 min or more singularly and fleet is 2.5£k
it’s taken a few years to get the cost down albeit prices keep going up. i did start around 4£k each year but had 5 people on the policy
The main reason for it is i don’t have to do anything now, let alone remember a policy for each motor - how many times have i forgot the mots !!, it’s me and the wife on everything as standard and can add and drop people as i wish. Also it’s business use and unlimited miles ( just 1 van get around 40k a year on it )
The same broker does my tools and work insurance and house insurance and soon pinball insurance ….
They also sort out any claims i am unlikely to acquire - like the wife reversing into a brand new RS5 at MRC tuning the other year….

I have fleet for lorries and vans any driver over 25, however I’ve been insuring the transits with named drivers now over last 2 years as only use myself and 3 other drivers and for fully comp business 0 ncb (as previously fleet) it’s been around £250-350 instead of the 850 on fleet

Do you mind if i contact you for info on this ?
i’m based inside the m25 and have a V8 car on there and a new van and looking forward it is just me and the wife now to be insured
The above isn’t kind with my use and choice of motor
