This has just blown in my new TNA. It’s a £25 part - i’m not convinced the same unit won’t fail again

Just so i don’t go get something completely ill suited does anyone know of a better quality 230v - 5/12v dc split transformer i can use please ?

Original Unit is Mean Well RD-65A

Meanwell is actually a pretty good brand and their build quality is decent.

If you want higher than that you're looking at something like TDK Lambda but big money as they're designed for critical systems.

Personally I'd give Meanwell another try.

Maybe it was overloaded or running hot?

agree, meanwell are good brand. having said that i’ve used loads of the chinese unbranded psus and all work fine. only had one fail , which was my fault for overloading it.

Thanks for the replies

Ok, I'll go again. My worry is if it was overloaded then surely the 230 fuse should have taken the strain and gone. It did but it took out part of the board too ?

I’d say it’s most likely a faulty psu, unless you have a faulty board in the pin itself. if it’s under warranty, get it fixed under warranty.

Have you been in touch with spooky?
I'd want to do this - not only for getting it fixed under warranty if possible, but so they could work out what the underlying problem was for certain - don't want a fire starting because of some issue reoccurring.

only open Monday thru Thursday - email is in their inbox waiting for them
I feel your pain mate, Spooky were lucky they were not in the UK!
Probably lucky for me😈
Saying that they sorted me out but Jesus Christ if they didn’t……… Love this game and hope you fix it soon🤞

Meanwell are good but get a bigger amperage power supply!
there are 2 options - which is recommended

installed is the 65. 12v/3a. 5v/6a

The 85 - 12v / 4a 5v / 8a
the 125 - 12v / 7.7a 5v. 7.7a

They're likely gonna have different dimensions than the original, so I'd just stick with the 65.

Unless you've modded the pin with extra stuff and it actually needs more?
