Molex connectors?

Hi guys,

I've been thinking it would be good to be able to do my own molex connectors for joining wires, instead of using block terminals.

I've had a look on eBay and molex crimp tools are around £300! I would very rarely need to use the tool so don't want to spend much on it - is there a cheaper way to achieve the same result?

Usually I agree spending a lot on tools is a good investment, but for the handful of times I would need to use it £300 is not worth it for me.

Thanks in advance, Mark.

Hi RudeDogg, when I searched on ebay for "Molex crimp tool" all of the results were around the £300-£400 price range.

If anyone can confirm I can get what I need to make Molex connectors for £25, let me know what you use and I will probably order one :) It is not often I need to make that type of connector, but with my TSPP I have had to use block terminals for the 240v in the cabinet to the back box, and a nice 2 pin molex would look much more fitting than a block terminal.

Cheers, Mark.

Hi guys, sorry probably my fault for not being more clear.

Yes, the type of connectors I am thinking about include, for example, the connectors coming off the transformer within the body of the cabinet. When I changed the voltage to the tube in the backbox from 100v to 240v I needed to cut off two connectors within the cabinet and connect using a terminal block. I prefer the look of the "proper" connectors though so would like to put them on if possible, but am not sure what tools/equipment I need.
Cheers, Mark

Thanks guys, I've just bought ont of these (170752067857) so hopefully that will do the trick!

Hi Andy, will place a put some connectors on my next order.

Cheers, Mark

As Pinballmania highlights, that set work very well and is the one I use to do various things. They work very well and have done both the connectors in the back box and the ones used for mods underneath the playfield.
