This is kind of interesting:

It is a professional film detailing all the tips and tactics you need to master pinball.

Probably more useful to the likes of noobs like me but I certainly found the Abe Flips videos on youtube helpful and looks like this will go into a lot more detail.

Seems this is a new trailer released in the last few days and shown at the European Pinball Championships.

Kickstarter here:

I have found, having my first kind of modern pinball at home, that I am getting to grips with controlling the ball(s) a lot better and these tip videos help even more so now than when I first watched and tried to make sense of them.

Enjoyed his YT series, backed the cheapest option to receive a digital copy, should be interesting.
Yep, backed as well, if only to support it and hopefully open up the hobby for new folks.

It is interesting in a way - these newer stern machines are so deep and so cool - but as someone relatively new to this - I found them pretty impenetrable at first vs older machines like Monster Bash etc.

So... anything that opens it up is all good with me!

It’s a great project and the trailer was very promising, slow mo content is such a good idea for pinball.

Don’t get disheartened if you can’t do it all straight away or consistently, a lot of the techniques he will show in the film are very advanced and more things to have in your “toolbox” or to aspire towards rather than things you can expect to use in every game! The basics of dead bounce, live catch, drop catch and of course judicious nudging (all already covered in his free YT series) can take you a long way. But this film will be super cool and I’m hoping it might give me some “inspiration” to try out some new things, especially on multiball control.

Same here, once the excitement of a new pin arrival subsides its the feeling of improving that makes the hobby so addicting.
Really interested in the nudging part, especially the slow motion of how the ball reacts, I sometimes feel as if I'm (as Gonzo once put it) nudging the ball into trouble.

Yes you have to undetstand that all these skills will not be acquired overnight though some are more attainable quicker. Some players want to consistently improve, while others are just happy to play more for the fun of it. Some players are more naturally gifted too just as in any walk of life. Lots of practice on a good mix of machines will improve your overall play as will playing against and, very importantly, watching elite level players. Everyone in the community is very helpful and welcoming so don't be afraid to ask anything.

Yeah, 100% - my wife is not interested and just wants to play and have fun.

I however enjoy the process of sucking up information and trying to put it into action.

Horses for courses hey!
