Wanted machine under £1000

I was in one of the arcades last year when it started to rain really hard outside. The rain started flooding through the ceiling, and all over a group of games. The staff didnt seem to bothered. just turn the games off, and put a few buckets down lol

I have fond memories of the arcades as my Dad used to work above one of them. During the school holidays I used to go with him and he'd give me a stash of pennies

Drove down the seafront road the other week and everything looks exactly the same :)

Alas Mark9 is right - the last couple of pins vanished in the last 12 months.

There used to be an Elvis and a Grand Prix in Taylor Made Fun (to the left of the Train Station) but they were in shocking condition and disappeared at the middle of the 2013 season. There was also a BSD a little further up towards the indoor market but that arcade shut down at the end of 2013 and never reopened.

The only other Pin I knew of was in The Wellow Pub. They had a 24 Pin in there, but we went to track it down a few weeks back and that's also gone.

So it looks like it's up to us private pinheads to keep things going. I did toy with the idea of siting my R&B once it's restored to make room for another project but I guess i'll see how it goes.

Alas I might have to skip NERG. With the fostering and travelling with work my time away from home for gaming events is limited. I'm more inclined to save my 'pass' for later in the year so I can hopefully get along to NLP at Play Expo this year (assuming it's all on again of course). Of course things could well change before then - i'll keep you posted.

Edit: Oh, forgot to say. Skegness is the closest place i've found with a decent selection of Pins. There's a few on the Pier and also a load inside Fantasy Island. I spotted a Shrek, Pirates of the Carribean, Pin Bot, couple of Addams Familys, Elvis and a few others.

I went to Xscape in Castleford over the xmas holidays, and was surprised to see an Avatar pinball in the bar overlooking the slope. Needless to say i had to have a go :-D

They used to have a Tron in there!

There's an Avatar at Doncaster Dome too, next to the ice skating rink, played it last week.

I hope you guys have been putting these on Pinformer ;-)

Maybe once summer is here we should consider doing something. I felt incredibly lonely when I got my Pin a year or so ago but there seems to be a few gathering in Lincolnshire now.

Would be good having a bit of a local get together. When do you think your R&B will be ready to play @Wiredworm ?
Unfortunately it's hard to say :-(

I'm hoping to get some more work done on it over the next few weekends. I've ditched the idea of using rattle cans and instead i'm going to invest in a compressor and do it properly; I figured that once done I can always sell the compressor on as it's not likely to get much more use. Even doing that will still probably work out cheaper than using cans. I spoke to John at our head office in Copenhagen and he said the finish he got when he sprayed his Roadshow was superb.

But considering I still need to do the cabinet, strip the playfield, clean it all up and then put it back together - well I can't see it being done this side of September. My ideal would be to have it done before Play Expo later in the year as ideally i'd like to take it along and give something back the wonderful community that has helped me out so much along the last couple of years.

Things will hopefully pick up once the winter is out of the way. The dark nights are making it nearly impossible to do anything apart from at weekends, and that time is usually split between jobs around the house and family stuff.

Isn't that BSD in one of the seafront arcades anymore?
+100 points for thread necromancy ;-)

That BSD was in an arcade which shut down at the end of the 2014 season. Unfortunately it never re-opened and is now a sweet shop.

I have a feeling that the Operator that provides the Pins for Cleethorpes also has interests elsewhere so I have a feeling it's probably been sited elsewhere, possibly Mablethorpe or Skegness. Either that or it's languishing in a store room somewhere and being butchered for spare parts when they need to do something drastic to keep another Pin running.

If you want to play Pinball in Grimsby or Cleethorpes then your only option now is to buy your own. I have to keep my habit alive by visiting the PinLab when I go over to Copenhagen, at least until my R&B is back together and fully restored.

And it's a terrible game tbh. Are there some plastics missing from the poppers as there are just lights on them and it looks terrible.
