LW3 - Physical problem

Hi

One of my playfield supports has come loose, the wood around the screw-holes has split slightly & am unsure how to fix it. The possibilities I can see are to fill the holes & screw into the filler, or move the support to the left (or even just turn it round), rerouting the lighting wire to avoid it.

Maybe there's another way that I've not thought of - what's the best way to tackle this?

Glue in some toothpicks then you'll be screwimg into wood as appose to filler pre drill hole before you screw back in

There are also some devices you can get for this which are effectively metal threads you hammer in, then use a machine screw instead.

Edit: apparently they're called press-in wood inserts.

Drill bigger and insert a dowel pin. Assume you have noticed the common theme here - would be more concerned about the splitting if anything. Did anything impart a big sideways load on this one?
Also, something is missing, you have dimples there with nothing screwed in.... Guess best to sell at an inflated price to @russdx1 before he notices...

Common issue with these. Marco etc in US sells redesigned brackets with 4 screw holes instead of 2, but I would go with same suggestions as others above re wood and glue.

I suspect it was me - I think the screws had come a little loose without me noticing, then I probably pulled or pushed it too hard & it ripped the wood a little.

Whittle down a Piece of wood , glue and tap in place !
