Hi looking for recommendations for someone who can repair a non working flipper and service my jp. Luton, Bedfordshire

Thanks in advance

It might be the flakey Data East end of stroke switches. Mine often failed.

If you look under the playfield theres a leaf switch the flipper pushes open. Just slide a business card (or similar) between the contacts to clean them.

I'd eliminate it being something that simple first👍

I’ve checked all the fuses and they are all good. I’ve never had to repair anything yet since owning but up for learning. We moved house and ever since the left flipper hasn’t worked. I’ll try the business card trick when I’m home. Also it looks like the left and right are different inside the cabinet, is this normal. Thanks for all the help 👍

Yes that's normal, the right flipper button controls two flippers.

I mean the leaf switch in the flipper assembly.

See at top of this photo. The contacts get dirty and worn over time and don't make good contact. Without continuity the flipper won't fire.

The machine has a test menu accessed from the buttons inside the coin door. From there you should be able to fire the coil (coil test) and check whether that eos switch works (switch test). Post a video of the test in action if unsure.

I did the switch test and the flipper button works. I also tried cleaning the leaf switch which hasn’t fixed the problem. Is it looking like it’s the coil that needs replacing?

Have you checked the flipper control board inside the cabinet (left hand side) check fuses and connections on that board if not.

There's LEDs on the flipper board that should illuminates when the button is pressed.

Definitely check the fuses on that board, the clips they sit in are notoriously bad and break easily.

You mentioned it stopped working after you moved. Just visually inspect connectors and give them a push. Something may have come loose.

Try the coil test, does that get it to actuate?
