Hi all

I setup a Stern Pirates of the Caribbean for a friend. It needed a damn good clean, and was missing flipper rubbers, door lock, needed new balls and a few other minor bits.

When I first set it up the coin door buttons weren't working, so I couldn't put it into test, then they started working so I ignored the issue.

I went back last night to install the new balls, flipper rubbers and other bits and clean up the playfield. Did all of that and then when starting a game the left flipper is dead...

Immediately checked the fuse and it was fine, checked voltages and when the flipper button is depressed the coil is not getting voltage.

So I decided to put it into test, and the bladdy coin door buttons aren't working again.

So currently dead left flipper and coin door buttons don't work.

Is there a common denominator linking these two things together? I am stumped.

The 4 door buttons are are fed from J13 on the cpu/snd board.
The left flipper button is J3-1 same bd. Both the plugs are dedicated switches.
Try reseating both plugs and checking for power.

Can I measure voltage on each plug/connector?

Also is it a common ground or must I use any ground on the actual plug/connector?

Well this was a total *******, but she's fixed..

I tested common ground from left flipper to right and didn't get the beep. I actually found the common ground was not working at all.

I had to work my way through the effin harness and found a connector midway through where ground had been severed. Pull connector apart fixed the pin and all working.

Worst part was tracing the wires through the harness to look for breaks! Horrible!
