Modern cars use rubbish steel and have less floor/ underbody protection than was the case 20 years ago.

Lanoguard is being pushed by a few online channels as a way of protecting this unseen metalwork. It is a natural product manufactured using sheep's lanolin.

Having used it for a year - it does appear to work. However it makes the outside of your car smell like a farmyard. This did ease after a couple of months, but occasionally on a hot day it returns. With my car this has fortunately not permeated inside.

Next time I do a car I will be trying Dinitrol instead.

I put this under my MR2 the other week as it was free as my bro-in-law gets leftovers from customers cars he does.
Easy to do on a 2 post ramp and will be doing it again as long as it’s free😂

Not noticed any smell with mine and it’s in my garage.

I use waxoyl , you warm it up and thin it with spirits ,then use compressor and gun in every hole you can find, can also be sprayed across the underside including on suspension rubbers

More cars are made from anything other than steel nowadays (Tho some things have to be steel, such as Springs etc), hence they dont rust as much... as opposed to old Mk1 Escorts which used to rust for a pasttime!

Interestingly about 15 years ago i went to South Africa, where rusting wasnt an issue - loads of Mk1's still on the road - however the engines cost £££ since it wasnt unusual to put 250K+ miles on them before they gave up completely!

Tempted to try this out, had been looking at Dinitrol, but its expensive for a full kit with about three stages.
Only thing is, eco friendly, cheap and easy to use with minimal prep, seems a little too good to be true?

Was so easy to do, it’s like WD40. I was brushing it on as well as spraying, my mate/bro-in-law who has a garage did say it’s best to reapply every year or so but I was putting it on a summer/dry day car so will last ages. Will do my other cars with it now, all those suspension components look nice after coating them as well which is nice whenever you have to get under your car to do work. Everything seems to rust especially out my way.

Yeah rust here is a big issue too, and I have to park on low lying gravel which won't help, tempted to maybe Dinitrol behind the arch liners and inside the sills, the really hard to get places I don't really want to do more than once, then use Lanoguard every year on the rest?

Yep, you need to do what you need to do. So many options available for different situations, I have ramps anytime free available so not a problem for me.
Anything is better than nothing if you cant keep an eye on it or have an air chamber to keep it in, been there and they do work very well😎

Yeah ramps must be usefull, hate going under cars, brought some 3 tonne axle stands but still freaks me out a bit.

I used Dinitrol on my Cortina and Capri. Pumped the cills, chassis rails front to back, a & b posts, and rear wheel tubs with it, and coated the wheel arches and underside too. It’s a messy job, but worth it. IMG_5391.jpeg
