Hi all,

my e/m Zaccaria Aerobatics has a "painted" glass translite.

There is no visible cracking or peeling.

I seem to remember there is a product that can be applied to the inside to stop it peeling.

Can anyone advise me what it is called ? , also is it possible/best to spray it on or paint it on ?

Thanks,
John

Krylon Triple Thick is what you are after.

Not that easy to find in UK shops but search on eBay you'll probably find some.

Spray it on. I have used it in the past.

There are also guides to using it on YouTube, Clays pinrepair site etc

Triple Thick is a great product, if a bit expensive.

However if you're keeping the game in a dry environment is there any need to use it at all? After all your backglass has lasted 40 years so far with no problems.....damp is the enemy due to the water based paint used so avoid that and you should be fine.

If you do use it though make sure you mask the score reel and credit windows before spraying!

Also store at a steady temperature else the paint layer can contract/expand whilst the glass doesn't causing them to de-laminate over time. The translucent areas in particular crack where the paint is thinnest and these are the most difficult to touch up.

You should. Try and avoid putting triple thick on until you really need to, eg starting to crack or peel. I prefer to paint it on rather than spray. Don't forget to mask the scoring windows and keep any winkles out of cling film, should you need to use cling film to hold broken paint in place.

If the glass has no cracking or bubbling, remember the 'enemy of good is better'.
I only use it when there are signs of bubbling or flaking.
I have a glass that was done 25 years ago and it is perfect.
But, they don't like big variations in temp.
