King Kong by Stern

Thanks to @KevM we stopped by Arcade Monsters yesterday to check out Kong. Absolutely loved it and came away wanting one - prob would have put the order in then and there if it wasn’t for JJP Potter.

The shots are incredible and I love that it feels like an original theme as opposed to an IP. Code seems decent for a game that just came out, and there’s some fun ideas in there too - like a ball lock that turns the next mode you play into a two ball multiball adds some strategy.

The moving Kong figure / subway ball lock is cool and the multiball start is a great pinball moment but the real upgrade from the Pro is the Gong. Very satisfying to hit and also the only shot that felt dangerous when it kicks back.

Can’t wait to get more time in on one.

Nice one for sharing! We’ll hopefully have our Kong premium soon at Chief if you’re in London.

Played the LE, Premium and Pro at the EPC - I think no one will be disappointed, it flows very nicely and they have a few interesting features. Although some of the game had a canny resemblance to the uncanny X-men with the curly wire forms, post in the middle and weird feed to the left flipper.

This thing shoots amazing!!

Not sure why, but I keep calling the game Kong Zilla..!!

Anyhoos, seems common there is a little issue with the big fella and such I did the following. Hope it is of use to some

Videos should be in order starting with the Official Stern walkthrough then my findings

what the walk thru doesnt tell you is
A. how he supports the playfield
B. That you need the coin door closed in order to carry out the calibrations
C. The arms screws ideally need loctite

I can supply that support and catch kit for £15 posted and that will work on most stern games, the supports work on any game too
You will need a QR code form Stern should you wish to embed the new settings as factory, but you can still store them without as a setting. Im trying to get the Qr code but for now mine is done

On this last vid I set by eye the lower arm settings because the official settings still put me back to square one, but then found on animation I could lower them by another setting of 10, I prob still could lower them a little more but this looks ok to me now

Those who have already received their Kongs....how tight is the playfield in the cab? My UXM playfield is ridiculously tight in the cab, so tight getting mirror blades in was barely possible.

Not as bad as UXM even with side protectors in in the words of bobby Marley it was jamming.
I have same bades currently sitting in Kong and it has wiggle room left / right Kev

OK heads up what Rob said as I’m gonna have to remove Kong and check his arms as he smacking the train with his left arm so must be out of kilter on the spline.

Imaging spending 12.5k on a car to be told oh wait you best take off wheels and sort brakes before using of it might snap the calliper off. 🤪

Only one game and big smile. Lots to like but I’ll hold my passions till I dial in and have a better idea.
Think I best sort kongs arm first! It’s just as well it’s his left as like me I think he probs uses his right one the most 😜

Played a good few games on it over the weekend, really like it. Some amazing ball paths, using the diverter is a really cool feature, and it has the potential to be a belter.
