King Kong by Stern

All looked a bit rushed to me. I can only assume they brought this forward due to Harry Potter release.

Looks awesome to shoot- potentially a long player like GZ which might put some off. 2nd best animations I’ve seen from Stern behind MetR

There's going to be a big difference in price ? JJP with all the toys v Stern with all the toys

First impressions after watching the gameplay video are good. Looks like a rush to play, helped along by the thumping music score. Plenty of shots and the playfield layout looks different enough. I'd probably choose it over a Jaws if the code turns out to be good.

I actually also like the busy, colourful playfield too. Compared to something like Jaws with it's sea of blue, which to be fair suits the theme, it feels like there is more on the playfield than there is. That could be a positive or negative depending on how you look at it.

So GZ Prem had a moving building, a mechagodzilla that caught the ball and a rotating jump ramp.

KK Prem has a happy meal Kong and Spider and a plastic gong?

I'm honestly not getting the hype for this. Have Stern not learned that if you add 10-20% to the BOM, you sell 50-100% more games!?

When I first saw it I agree. Kong is basically Hulk from the earlier Gomez Avengers release.

However the flow does look good. I initially trashed Jaws on the reveal and then still didn't like it when I played one, but I think I would enjoy playing this.

Anyhow I'm marked safe from new pin fomo thank fuuuuuuuck.

It's disappointing the Pro doesn't have a physical ball lock. Hearing "Ball one locked" as it instantly returns to the flipper is just wrong.

I would love to hear from Stern designers whether they design a game based on the Pro, and then add premium features, or they design the game based on a premium layout and then remove features for the pro.

I would imagine they have probably been told not to answer that question.

Managed to play the LE for a few hours today.
This game is plenty packed with shots and needs a bit dialing in for all the shots to flow perfectly - nothing as crazy as X-Men which was next to it and good to play to compare (xmen feels a bit clunky if you can’t get shots down).
It’s a great design from Elwin again and it shoots well. Didn’t really pay too much attention to the screen but it seemed to fit well with the overall artwork. I think the gong was the most noticeable bit on the LE but I think the pro will play really nice - the only drains were from that really and a pro would mostly eliminate some mad drains.

The game is crazy fast but not a drain monster like wick/venom.

Where was this ?

I played this a few times a few weeks back at the Ann Arbor show. They had pro and premium side by side and they played very similarly. On premium the gong does stand out and the ball lock and the animated kong plus also the ball seemed to get stalled more often at the spider than on the pro. I found both versions played quite similarly in terms of flow and both did flow quite well with decent ball times so not a drain monster like some stern titles. I managed a few decent games so got to experience quite a few of the modes etc. I liked it. A fun game with so.e interesting v shots particularly around the drops near the left upper flipper which I liked.
