hey fellas, i got in at 6am from a great holiday in South Africa and spent the day being busy. my flangewad of a brother in law did his typically half-****d job of looking after the fishtank so as usual i got back to find it looking like someone took a dump in there, so i just spent the last 3 hours trying to get rid of most of the built-up filth that happens when you allow filters to clog etc.

holiday was ace, will post up a few pics later. i also have a nice duty free bottle of whiskey beckoning, and a LOTR here that could do with some attention (machine gunning flipper after rebuild and new transistor for lock-on) and new parts fitted (spinner, cliffies, switches)

anyone else been away recently or got anything nice planned?

nice tank Dan - Marine or just a coral tank???

Loved my marine tank - easy to look after, and some wonderful looking fish!

it's marine mate. it's been there since 2005 so it's nice and mature now. used to be one of a pair, this one the community tank, the other with carnivores and coral-eaters etc (lion fish, rays, triggers, parrots, puffers, big eels, had all sorts in there over the years) but that made way years ago as we needed the space in the living room and it was also a 400 litre tank like this.

it's gonna need some attention now to get it back up to scratch - skimmer running wet, lots of changes of filter floss by every pump, toothbrushes on duty to the rocks, new rowaphos and nitrate granules, small water change etc etc

Pffft, it was a poor holiday Dan.

What happened to the usual posting we expect whilst you're away? ;-)

Welcome back though - and sorry to hear about the fish tank woes.

Edit: I should add that i've also just got back from holiday. But in my case we didn't venture further than Skegness. The plus for us was probably me playing The Adams Family at Ingoldmells.

If your filter is clogging like that from just being away a little while think it's time to upgrade your filter.
Always better to over filter than under

hey Pete  i'm only too well aware of all the excessive posting trolling whoring i do here already, so every now and then i take stock and try to reel it back in a bit. internet forums are fantastic for people like me with better written than social skills. i had a fine time and will no doubt whore it up with pics another time
where is Ingoldmells, it sounds like the kind of place invented to make dirty limericks work.

Did you go into the Pier arcade? Was the worlds most broken TAF still in there?

Heh, no problems Ron. I'm in pretty much the same boat as you so no problems with 'whoring' it up. ;-)

Ingoldmells is a resort just north of Skegness. It's the home of Fantasy Island and was, until recently, a good home of Pinball. But alas it's fair to say that of late things have been in decline. Their Jack Bot is now turned off and similarly their Addams Family is also non-working. In fact of the three machines they used to have only one of them (a Lord of the Rings) is still working. And of course i'll update this information on Pinsider in the meantime.

I've dropped them a line already to see if there is any interest in selling. If they respond then i'd be happy for others on this forum to get involved; i'll keep you all posted because in my view it's better they be played than be consigned to a skip.

As for the Addams Family in Skegness - it's still there and 'sort of' playable. Flippers are a bit weak and there is a definite issue with the swamp sensors because it doesn't seem to handle the multi-ball modes at all well. Shame really as other than that it seems 'ok'....

I don't quite know how that worked but the message I got seemed to merge Dans reply in with RonSplooters ;-)

Ingoldmells is north of Skegness. It's an odd place because it's not got any notable attractions such as a Pier or a beach, but as it's north of Skegness and Butlins has made it it's home then it seems to get a break. As a result it has arcades and pinball - in fact until recently it was about the only location which had pinball machines inside of 30 miles from my home.

Alas now we're down to just 1 :-(

Sounds like it's had some work done as the last time I tried to play it, it couldn't even kick a ball into the shooter lane :)

As I live near the lincolnshire border, many folk I know have been to Ingoldmells. Indeed one of the lying kitchen scumbags I have been talking to recently was going there for Easter. People tend to express strong opinions about it.

It is what happens when you put a sexually fertile male and sexually fertile female static caravan together and leave the colony to breed prolifically for 40 years. The scene from the sea wall looks like ploughed fields/ colony of cuboid ants as there are thousands and thousands of them

I played on that lord of the rings two years ago. It was in dire need of maintenance, I just walked away with remaining games in it as it was so shagged.

Jesus are those white things all caravans? For holidays or with people living there full time with missing teeth, knuckle tattoos and extra fingers, like in trailer parks in the 'America'?

Just got back from Budapest, great city and some fantastic pinball action. The Budapest Pinball Museum is amazing and was so busy with tourists when I went there, they have really got it right. They keep it cheap, about £7 from 4pm-12am with over 130 machines on free play. We only stayed for about 2 hours but my Mrs was very happy for the entire time and really enjoyed the layout and cool artwork at the museum. The owner also recognised me and gave me a free t-shirt which was very nice and opened up the area which had been closed off for maintenance so I could play a few more games.

Also, just around the corner from where I was staying (literally 50 yards) was an arcade with a row of Sterns and Woah Nellie!! Managed to put up some decent scores including a 960 million game on Walking Dead. Needless to say it was an awesome little holiday.

Cheers, Craig

Yup, and in actual fact those are just some of the caravans. If you check out the satellite shots on Google Maps you can see there are waaaay more than that.

We were at Fantasy Island for the day which is a bit further south than the picture shown above. It's pretty much as dire as you'd imagine but it's good for the kids and our little one had fun going on the rides for a couple of hours. There's also a couple of fairly large rollercoasters which scratch an itch for adrenaline junkies like me.

Oh, and of course it used to be a place I could play a few games of pinball. As mentioned above though there is only 1 working pinball remaining there. I'll make sure I get pinformer updated if it's not already been done.

He recognised you from tournaments or from your awesome tutorial videos on YouTube for HLD? Oh and did Neil fall out with them after he did his videos?

How nice was the T shirt?

He actually recognised me from when I was in the final of the EPC in 2012 in Spain. The T Shirt is very nice :)

Stuck in Geneva Airport lounge waiting for a delayed flight home. Been skiing in Tignes :)
