Not something I was planning to sell, as it was a dream machine for me, but have now played it out and would like the money to put towards another machine. The machine is in good working order, during my ownership I’ve added side blades and LED’s to the backglass, repainting some trim, replaced some parts, It also has nice gold legs which suit the game well. I’ve also done some maintenance/repairs done; including replacing all rubbers, taking apart and cleaning plastics/playfield, taking the battery’s off the board and mounted on the side of the cabinet and new opto’s and opto boards.

The playfield is is excellent condition and is protected with Mylar. The cabinet artwork is clear and not faded down the sides of the cabinet. All flippers are working well and your welcome to come try it out if your keen.

You can see the machine playing in this video review I did of it last year -
You can see in the video there is a topper (though this is a homemade one and not original plastic)

Note it’s been adjusted since then so the ball won’t get caught up on the drop targets.

I'm looking to trade up, would like a first stern & would be interested in a World Poker Tour which or perhaps another 90's DMD, or some pretty old Bally to call my own - Creature from the Black Lagoon/Roadshow/The Shadow perhaps.. - with money your way, or maybe a Black Pyramid/Who Dunnit/black rose/the getaway with money my way.

Price is ... £2500 or best offer.

I’m very interested in this, however, what’s putting me off us...... I’ve never owned one before, so I’m so on the fence about buying one too fast before I learn more about them in general, and also understanding how to maintain them. The video is brill and it looks right up my street... is it too soon for me to invest ? Is this a great starting pin? Feedback please

Being a Bally Williams should you need them - there are spares and parts for it, which can be a harder to find for some other brands - Also lots of good people about if you need help. The machine comes with a full instruction manual too.

Yeah unfortunately it’s dog eat dog at the moment. You snooze you lose. Ultimately you just gotta take the plunge.

I know I know.... there is still a learning curve though, I’ve read so many review of machines I’ve seen so far on pinside, and I’m somewhat torn on what is the best fit. Ideally I need a pin that’s a great starting family machine, not too deep, amd easy enough to get the whole family infatuated (me, wifey, 3 kids, 2 grandkids) then when they are hooked, blowing my load on a top machine won’t be an issue

J.D was my second pin I bought and it’s been a good and reliable machine, well played by friends and family.
Only issues I’ve had is loose wire, solder joints and recently it was cutting out which is very common fault on machines of this age made by Williams, all faults was a simple fix.
I must say I’ve been very happy with my J.D mine also had the topper missing which I’ve since bought off eBay.
For a first pin it’s a good pin, there is plenty of help to be shared on here if help is needed.

Bally/Williams are a great first pin and easy to troubleshoot should you be so inclined to fix them. Avoid Data East like the plague unless the machines got an immaculate service history.
