IDC punch down tools 0.1"

Hi Folk,

I've got a dodgy connector on my DrWho's switch matrix J208.

One wire keeps coming out and instead of just jabbing at it with a screwdriver so it looks like it won't fall out I thought I'd replace the rather knackered connector.

Looking at the new connector and the IDC tool I got for 0.156in connectors they are not going to play nicely together.

I could just try squishing the wires in place with a thin bladed screwdriver, but I'm guessing that's what has caused the problem in the first place.

Does anyone have any pointers to the correct tools?

Have you considered making a new connector ? I believe the molex connectors are better in the long run but you'll need a new tool to crimp the cables.

Ah, I don't think I was very clear...

I've got a new connector and will replace the old, somewhat abused connector.

Rather than just using a thin bladed screwdriver to jam stuff in place, I was wondering if there is a proper tool available.

It's not a crimp connector, it is an IDC punch down 0.1" connector - switch matrix.

Yes it's this

Works pretty well for fitting

That is not the correct tool.

Clearly says in the description it is NOT for those 0.1" connectors.

This is the correct one:

I have that one and the 0.156" one in my tool box.

Do not mess about trying to do it with other tools like stanley blades, small screw drivers.
