Wondering if anyone has tried making a homebrew shaker motor for a stern (the real thing looks kinda expensive). Wondering if a used windscreen wiper motor could be used. I see in the genuine kit there is a PCB but not sure what electronics it has on it. Anyone done this before?

Yeah, I guess the electronics is important, not sure what it does though. From the pics of it, it just looks like 2 fuses, 2 diodes and a resister, so no control logic on it, but I don't really know ( hopefully someone does). Looks like motor is somewhat specialised too, with a shaft coming out of either end, but not sure how critical that would be - hopefully someone has tried this before....

I have on in my acdc. There is a weight on each shaft which makes the vibrations. The motor is controlled from the software. Not sure what the pcb is for, could just be voltage regulating?
