Hi all,

Looking for some help.

Have a Pulp Fiction machine that I am trying to get running on £1 coins. Being a mechanical mech setup inside the door I’ve bought a new £1 S10 mech to use.

Running coins through the mech when the door is open, it will accept 9/10 coins or more, they drop through without issue.

When the door is closed, it will accept maybe 1/5 coons at best. Rejects the rest. I’ve tried everything inc levelling the mech, the machine at different heights etc and the results are the same as soon as the door is closed and locked.

Unsure if I an completely missing something?

I have a Spooky Halloween which is on a similar setup and works great.

Had a mechanical mech on a TFTC also rejected the odd coin but nowhere near this. So the mechs can’t be this fussy.

Realise that help may be very limited on this one due to home users.

Thanks.

Hopefully someone will chime in mate. @Gonzo had a coin mech added to his PF at Pinfest. Not sure who it was that added it for the Event but hopefully the tech guys can support you.

Interestingly I also seen quite a few coin rejects on PF at Pinfest actually, but the Scots got accused (bit oh banter) of using rubber coins 😂. Even though we previously swapped coins with people at times to get them a game started.

could be part of a wiring loom getting in the way, once the door is closed?,difficult to see, unless you lift up the playfield and try to run coins through the mech with the door closed

No there was an issue with the mech, it rejected 8 of the pounds that I had gave up, mate had the same 3 rejected 1 worked

£1 mechanical mechs sometimes are a struggle on the new £1 we find 50p ones work much better would probably be best getting a kit to fit a electronic one on the game to reduce rejections
does also depend on the door style some work better than others

Most electronic mechs (useing C120's as an example) are programmed with tolerances to allow for slight variations in coins of the same type.
When the new £1 came out (2016/2017) everyone was scrambling to get their mechs programmed - however these were programmed a lot of the time by people with brand spanking new coins (or with Royal Mint "pre-release samples". Which is great until they start to wear a little, lighten in weight and become generally warn. Tolerences were set too tight, and then it was found that a lot of mechs were rejecting these. The pre-release samples differed very slightly from the "final product" slightly, which didnt help.

Unsurprisingly there was then a glut of mechs that had been programmed, however that didnt work, and rejected a lot of coins.

If these were programmed now then the person programming should be using a good mix of new, newish and well warn coins to give the mech a good success rate (a good success rate should accept 97%+).

With regards to this issue, i would be looking at the pressure from the wiring loom on the mech itself - maybe try putting a sticky cable tie baseplate on the mech itself and then tying the loom to it, meaning there's no excessive pressure being applied when closed as opposed to open. Or alternatively, is there something else touching the mech at all when the door is closed that might be causing this?
