Hi
New to pinball info but was wondering if any one could help me with a problem with my bsd, just got it Friday played a wee bit that night and Saturday everything fine ,tonight played a few games and noticed it was giving me scores and features that I was no where near achieving ie 10 million,20 million even the 30 million I had only used the flippers about 6 times, let the game play out without touching anything switched it off back on launched a ball it started the same thing again without even touching a flipper bent down to switch it off as everything was going at the same time and it conked out I guess it blew a fuse any ideas big thanks in advance.

Cheers Brian.

Does your CPU board look healthy? It's the tall one on the left in the backbox. Check for battery leakage. Did you replace the 3 AA batteries?

Does sound like acid damage but could also be , ground short, failing diode.
I had a similar problem with mine and that was a flaky diode.

Hi
Thanks for replies, batteries was the first thing replaced no sign of acid damage board looks clean,I added Andy dreads playfield and under playfield mod but done this on a couple of other machines I have had great things never a problem with them, don't know much about ground shorts or diodes as am kind of a newbie to this as the other machines i have had in the past never had any problems the odd bulb and new flipper coils that's about it

Hi
Not changed anything except batteries and added Andy's mods I also added the coffin and mystery hole mod the only thing I can remember it doing that might be of some help was when you pressed a 2 player game it would give you 4 players and right at the end before it went off a 1 player game was giving you 2 players.

Remove the wires for the mods, see what happens

Hi
Cheers Arv will do will have to order a fuse in it is numbered 215 on the board I think that is a 3 to 4 amp haven't got a manual so just Googled it.

Hi
Getting somewhere now back switched on but when it does the initial looking for balls finds them which seems a lot longer than other machines I have played then repeats the process and doesn't stop just keeps on shooting a ball up to where mist multi starts looks for other balls spits the ball out for mist feature and starts again.

Thanks again in advance.

Brian.

Use the mist multiball test to check that the ball is being seen as held in the right hand trap. If the ball drops forwards too much the light beam will not be blocked so it will think a ball is missing and carry on searching.

Use the switch test to check the function of the other ball trough switches too.

Same thing was happening with mine BSD, i replaced the CPU board. Have you checked for battery damage? Take a hi-res pic and post it here..

Sounds like suspect opto's to me... try putting it in switch test and bash the sides of the cabinet (or thump the playfield) to see if something is intermittently registering... @pinballmania showed me that one when my JD was putting up huge scores at the UK show one year!

Hi Andy
Did mist test loads ball fine checks opto1 fine, ball comes across playfield right to left fine, checks opto2 fine, ball travels left to right and at the last second there's a small thud and ball rolls down playfield and comes up power error,on switch edge test it shows six faults.
On initial start up when doing a test report it reported 5 faults when I done it again it showed 3 then the last time I did it it showed 5 again.I also checked the CPU boards led's there doing as they should one out centre one blinking fast one on.

Cheers Again Brian.

Switch edge test doesn't show faults as such. It shows switches which are seen as closed. What switches are closed ? Post a picture of the switch edge display with balls removed from the game and then with all three in the trough. With the balls in the trough you should see them all represented on the switch matrix.
