A as I’d really dislike lcd displays
I've seen them go at £6,500 to £6,750, e.g.You're making the assumption a TZ goes for 6k? I mean it should be, but recent adverts are WELL north of that![]()
Neither do I, especially, but if someone forcibly delivered a pinball machine to my house, I'd rather it be TZ than - say - Mando, Bond, TMNT or Led Zeppelin.I don’t even like tz![]()
Tbf Wayne in the 20 years or so I’ve been in the hobby the consensus has always been , and most people found , that unless you wildly overpaid then worst case you would see your money back again on most pins on resell , and in fact the prices kept creeping up year on year . Not talking about NIB - that’s always been a different matter. There definitely seems to have been a mentality of pinball machines never depreciating in value and that they're a good investment over the last 3-4 years.
if a Twilight Zone comes down to ~£3-5k in the UK
I have lost money on every single NIB I have ever bought, and expected to. It seems people don't expect to lose a grand on a NIB purchase, and think that by listing all the 'mods' they have added will mean it keeps it's value.that unless you wildly overpaid then worst case you would see your money back again on most pins on resell
How much of that is due to natural inflation, as well as specific price increases for desirable machines?and in fact the prices kept creeping up year on year

Yes, that's we *can't* sell our pins unless they've been specifically bought as 'a rotator' or 'temporary resident'. I really enjoy modding and there's not a snowball's chance in hades that I'd ever recoup the cost of the mods. Seriously, I'm currently doing a playfield swap on Alien Poker and I've probably paid as much for the playfield/stencils/star-posts/decals as the pin. There's no way I'd recoup that on sale, nor would I expect to, and I'm not exactly going to do all that work and let someone else enjoy the nice clean machineI also see no value in mods to a machine , infact I think it devalues then except for the very odd few like creech video
I sold off my high price stuff bar a couple and replaced with players condition cheaper older games expecting this to happen, I’m surprised they have kept going up for so long. How many folk are holding off buying anything currently seeing how things settle - maybe wary of a falling market ? Which will only worsen a market seizing up , unless prices are slashed and everyone goes mental buying againRinse repeat . See you for the next round of pinflation

Personally, no holding off from me, just a limit to the number of pins that can be moved around. (And emotional blackmail in the house used to nail what I do have to the floor)How many folk are holding off buying anything currently seeing how things settle - maybe wary of a falling market ? Which will only worsen a market seizing up , unless prices are slashed and everyone goes mental buying againRinse repeat . See you for the next round of pinflation

I think it's more complex than that.Perfect storm which will impact the second hand market.
Those with the most money are not looking at players condition WPC's.
The rest of us are being more choosy because of bills, groceries, fuel and everything else increasing. Add in to the mix 6 new releases and the market gets flooded with people trying to sell games.
Poor Fish Tales. Still my favourite pin, too...I think we'll see the likes of Fish Tales dip under £3k again and we'll also see a £10k Stern pro by 2025 (ish).
I always thought the “ I’m only selling as I’ve run out of space” reason was a bit like “ it’s not you ,it’s me” break up excuse .and the reasons for sale. It was always space reasons.
Yes, basically. "I only have space for three pins and I'm bored of this one, so I want a different pin". But that's not the same as "I have space for three pins, but due to an unexpected bill, I can only own two pins". Unless you're swapping a EHOH for a slightly-mouldy Bug's Bunny's Birthday Bash, I suppose...I always thought the “ I’m only selling as I’ve run out of space” reason was a bit like “ it’s no you ,it’s me” break up excuse .
Thought it really meant “ bored of this pin, want rid so I can get another pin”![]()
I think it's more complex than that.
It does mean that but that don't mean the machine is rubbish. Look at how many of us have bought the same machine back later . And the divorce analogy falls down at this point I guessI always thought the “ I’m only selling as I’ve run out of space” reason was a bit like “ it’s no you ,it’s me” break up excuse .

True but “ great pin, but bored sh*tless of it now and need to swap out because stuff gets old quickly “ doesn’t have the same sales ring to itIt does mean that but that don't mean the machine is rubbish. If i had the money to buy several pins in the current climate.... be it NIB or older machines... I would have no issues with finding space.... thats the cheaper part of the equation! As I've said before, and will say again, no one has infinite space for storing pins.
Not in Zone 3 London it’s not…I would have no issues with finding space.... thats the cheaper part of the equation!
OopsBut I will concede it's more complex than the singular point you extracted from my more nuanced post.![]()
Said by someone that lives in Wales. The equation is definitely the other way round for all of us that live in LondonIf i had the money to but several pins in the current climate.... be it NIB or older machines... I would have no issues with finding space.... thats the cheaper part of the equation!
If anyone is interested in throwing 8k at my Things Pro I’m all earsI think it’s a bit early to judge, prices for early DMD games maybe slowing but the newer seemingly more desirable lcd sterns don’t seem to be dropping much and are linked like it or not to nib prices. I do think with such a lot of new releases this year there is a lot of shuffling of pins between us and it may squew the picture somewhat but if a Stranger Things pro was listed at 8k today I bet it would sell fast
Sorry to risk derailing the thread, but early on DRD's listing of home purchases includes 'she sheds'. Can I ask what these are? I've always thought that sheds were a men's thing; in vw circles, there's even a well known engine component, a 'Man in the Shed' cylinder head.
That said, though, most of the neighbours have sheds in their back gardens. I keep mine on the drive..
