Ground wire - does type matter?

Hi folks

DMD fell out into cabinet and ground wire snapped. Due to braided wire it's a bit awkward to solder with two hands. I think this was a combination of forge and age of the wire, which has belonged to a machine I think was stored in damp conditions once upon a time.

I also feel it may be better simply replacing the ground wire for the price.

Question is, could I replace the braided kind pictured with what is online? Reason I ask is that I have seen on a site that they come with different ratings

Screw the loose tab down so it is fixed, clean it up and solder the braid to it.

And no, as long as the diameter is similar anything will do. You should have crimp connectors on those though as solder isn't mechanically stable.

Replace it with a ground wire out of any 3 core
Mains flex you may have on an old appliance but crimp both ends with a lug or clean up existing ones.
