I don't get it.
When it came out it was absolutely everywhere, every tournament and location I went to. People hyping it up all of the time.
That probably didn't help me like it. Plus I often struggle with modern Sterns, much moreso back in 2019, I'll be honest I think most aren't fun. But I'm the weird guy going backwards from wpc, to early solid state and now EMs.
Contextually I understand how important GZ was. It was a new Spike 2 with proper mechs, interesting layout and shots and deep rules. I think modern pinball needed GZ to happen.
If I had one at home I'd probably get into it but in general I find modern games more tedious to play, I don't find myself smiling as much.
I have had a few spike 2 games at home which
I've enjoyed but I do get tired of them quicker which is the opposite to most people, I'm not sure why.
One thing that irks me slightly is when people go on about the shots and ball paths in a game, (mainly the Elwins). They're fun the first few times but then it's just another shot you're hitting over and over, if doesn't feel special anymore. Yet, give me a game like Diner for example, where that spinner shot for Dine time is so difficult and rarely made, but when you do and the ball lands in the saucer and collects dine time it feels amazing.. every... single.. time.
Same for the jackpot on Fishy, Creech.. plenty of sys11 and wpc89 games do this really well (it sort of becomes less so with wpc-s/95 with multiballs and ball saves).
A bit of a tangent and I'm aware I'm in the minority, that weird person who'd rather play 20 games of a sys11 than a spike 2
