GI flashing badly on RoadShow

Game was recently delivered, worked perfectly, then developed this little problem. Suspect something has worked loose.

GI is flashing on a off, with seemingly some repeating pattern & logic to it. A few rapid pulses of power at a time.

I've reseated the ribbon cables and GI-related headers.

CPU ASIC has been removed and reseated with an ASIC tool.

Any suggestions???

Does the fault persist after entering the test menu? Is the pattern you see linked in any way to the controlled lights?

Could it be mis-plugged on the driver board then? Check J121 header bottom left of board

Yes ok looks like could be a short between controlled lighting and GI.

Go into single lamp test and cycle through all to see if GI is triggered on any particular row, column or individual lamp.

Interesting!

Yes, rows 4-6 send the GI mad, rows 7 and 8 only seem to affect playfield right (not sure which GI string that is).

What could this mean?

Hmm that's a good one. Can't see anything obvious with common wiring or trannys which relate to those rows.

My next would be to unplug the controlled lights and see if you get the same GI behaviour.

Rows are J134
Columns are J137

Lower right

(with machine turned off first)

After that if you see same fault it's a board/reseat issue, if not it's a playfield wiring/diode fault.

Narrowing it down!

unplugged and retested - GI fault not seen when cycling through single controlled lamps.

No GI at all though.

Needs more investigation! Need to do the (after) school run now, thanks for your help thus far...

You tried reseating all of those? I know it sounds obvious
not yet.

Wiggled > working > letting it sit with power on while I get some work done to see if it happens again. Will try reseating later as a matter of course.

LED OCD board is waiting very patiently to go in... Previous owner did a great job on the LEDs - i've only changed 2 bulbs to my own taste. The cooler white works very well in the back box. They might convert the 'Sunlight kid' if i'm not careful.

I've found this since getting Fish Tales. It has cool white gi and in the backbox... Next to RS it looks so bright.
I'm considering changing to cool white in the backbox only just to even them out.

Has yours got cool white in the playfield gi too? I'd be interested how that looks. (when it works!)

I *think* so. It's slightly cooler than my Sunlight LEDs, but only slightly. They could be an older batch or something, not sure. Sunlight is still a warmer white colour, but one i find very easy on the eye.

Yes, same colour GI bulbs throughout.

Put it in single lamp test and see if an insert light triggers the gi
Just spotted your reply, sorry.

Several rows triggered the issue, but the weirdness is coming from that bundle of cables in the cab. I’m not sure how or where the GI and inserts cross over down there.
