Just a quick tech snippet I picked up last week, having had a similar issue with one of our new batch of machines (NIB)

There have been some known issues regarding quality on the bank of 4 buttons on the coin doors, with some buttons not working or needing herculean pressure to operate them

Stern are issuing replacements, but another example of why I always recommend NIB machines being setup and tested before they ship to the end user (Rush scoops and switches are another example) so you get the best out of box first-time experience

Hopefully this will only affect a few people, preferably none, but just so you don't spend ages trying to figure out an issue that is known

Regards

Jeff

My GZ is with dodgy up : down switches. Sometimes it just skips over a selection and you have to backtrack. Or like you say you have to press much harder than you should

They're dead easy to fix. Just remove the switch unit, pop it apart and clean the PCB contacts and button membrane with IPA 👍

Electrocoin have some spares as we reported this to them as soon as it happened and I discussed it with Patrick at the show also - they should have a few of them

As ronsplooter says.... you just need to open them up and clean them - there appears to be a layer of contamination on the upper surface of the switch PCB board which affects connectivity - as soon as it is removed/cleaned with some isopropyl alcohol and re-assembled, the issue is fixed - hence we assemble all of our games and test them before shipping them out - too many out of box issues for the price point!

Thanks, that isn’t a issue for me to solve , just don’t like taking something that is brand new - i’ll take a look this weekend

I will put up a separate thread, but there is also an issue with the 48VDC interlock bracket as fitted to coin doors. The issue we saw here was that they had not been manufactured correctly and the dims were out. As a result, the 48VDC was still isolated with the coin door closed - you can bend them to fit as it is only a few mm,, but you shouldn't have to

All of these have been reported to Stern and zero responses - clearly the IQC and OQC checks are non-existant.........

As does my gz and the qr reader doesn't work as they folded the ribbon cable in half.
I've had the qr reader replaced twice on my gz, the one that came with the machine didn't light up at all, now the replacement Phil sent me has started flickering so he has sent me another which I've yet to fit. They both scanned fine though, just the led faulty on both.
