Finally got around to getting FS out of car and reassembled since UKPP,had to remove back box to get in car.
I believe all wires in correct position, seems to boot, but nothing works, only a beep and a few inserts light. So much wrong that I don't know where to start!
I've seen this before, you've probably got a coil voltage short (50v) to a flashlamp/low power coil (20v), that's why the capacitor for the 20v supply has exploded, as you've exceeded it's voltage rating.
You need to find the short between 20v and 50v before doing anything else
I've looked for anything that may be causing a cross circuit, but no signs...... could I make a mistake with the connectors of different voltage to cause this?

good chance grizz could be right there.the manual tels you which colour cables should be in each connector to check if its the right one.the wpc manuals are helpfull wrt that.
Check with your meter to see if there is a short between the 20v and 50v test points, with everything wired as it currently is just for verification, but yeah, it sounds that it could be as per Grizz's post above, then after you swap the connectors, check that the short goes away, then after that, you can look at replacing the blown cap
Ian,
Check the black connector at bottom left hand corner of power driver board.
Looks like it's one pin out (bit blurry when zoomed in) but could be it.
