Putting some life back into my tatty MM plastics. I am happy to provide a service to anyone wanting any ramps or plastics done like this or even just a bit advice give me a shout
This is one thing I've never attempted. I'd love somebody to show me how to do it but without a demonstration I've always been petrified about ending up with a flat, charred lump of plastic.
ill see if I can get a video sorted at some point but yeah theres a few videos on youtube which I watched and learned off, I would say they seem to use big blow torches most of them which is easier to mess up and ruin your ramp completely. I use a gas soldering iron which you take the soldering tip off to expose the blue flame. It takes a bit longer but is more precise and gives you better results as its a more accurate flame. Its not hard but does take a bit of practice as with most things, like mentioned above having clean ramps first is a must or less any dirt will become melted into the plastic forever. What takes a bit learning is knowing the very fine line when trying to get really big old ball throughs off and not melting the ramp as these you need to heat these parts up the most touching with the flame tip, backing off and back on sometimes several times.
only real way is to just give it a go on some old plastics if you have them. Youll put bends in the plastics and heat bubbles but just part of learning.
Hi Spandangler, for something like the size ramp in the pic id say if you wanted to take the wires off and clean the ramp before hand so it is ready to just flame polish then £15 a ramp, if you wanted to just send them as is where I take the wiring off etc and clean aswell and re-attach wiring, £25
