Folks,
Can you buy these thirdparty and do they need additional hardware/board. Looking into getting a FT but it doesn't come with the fish topper..

Thanks for your help
Kenny

I can testify the fish is frickin annoying. I had mine disconnected the entire time.

And yes kenny, they all came factory fitted but most were damaged hence often missing

On release did FT actually come without the Topper/hardware. I just assumed they are missing due to damage.

Among the spare parts supplied with Fish Tales (and Dr. Who) was a metal plate to cover the hole where the wiring came out, if the topper was removed. The casting handle was supplied in a small box inside the main carton, and had to be fitted once the game was unpacked.

annoying as hell but game very hard to sell without it. unless very cheap , buyers are worried they wont be able to sell on

couldn't get an offer above parts value (£700) in 2015 for a tidy basically working machine so it was either part it out or get a topper. I bit the bullet and paid £250 from Germany for a fish and £60 for a new dome from Phil

have not seen a fish topper complete for sale anywhere since

most were removed by ops because it was too tall for its location and lost on a shelf somewhere

between new and around 2010 I never saw or got offered games like Dr Who WH20 JD or FT missing toppers. now its seems (esp with JD) its the norm

the problem is the seller of the game with the missing topper wont accept it knocks £300+ off BUT it does. often they bought the game not realising it should have one. many times on ebay I get the reply what topper? what dome lights etc?

Williams Bally games came with the topper as part of the games. on DE it was an option so the plastic lumps on top of JP and TFTC I would say are nice bonuses rather than game critical

if you need a Tommy ball just look online for an 18cm one. 2cm smaller than the original but a hellava lot cheaper!

Funnily enough I did notice the metal plate at the back and wondered if it had a botched repair :-)

I've tombstoned Fishtales at the mo. Gonna get new decals for it and if I set it up in my pin room it will never get done. Can someone send me a photo of the backbox and highlight the position of additional card that controls the fish. Just making sure I have the card..

Thanks

Without taking steps to fix it, the fish is annoying. For me it is the sound of the solenoid repeatedly firing leading to the metal bell plunger striking metal. But there is an easy fix.....

You put 1 or 2 small post rubbers on the bell plunger to stop metal striking metal. It makes the thing so much quieter

Great. I have everything, remember seeing one of those blocks unattached. Was expecting aux card/board to drive it.
Arrr got you !!
I also did think there was another driver board ,but when I picked mine up at Chis B's he told me it does not have one and he was spot on
