Fish Tales - Trough Ball 2 Switch Issue - Keeps triggering on vibrations

I would disconnect the switch that is causing issues and run your tests again, to see if it still triggers (all the switches are matrixed, so it could be a problem elsewhere in the matrix).
Going to try and bridge the switch first like before and just enter ball 1 into the game and see if I can replicate the issue.

If the issue happens then its not the switch. If it doesn't happen then its likely the switch/my soldering.

So i'm a spaz...

I had my Left In lane and Out Lane in reverse.

So during ball save the ball would go down the inner lane return lane on the left side and the game logic during ball save would be throw another ball into the game.

Changing those switches and diodes and alignment of the trough for nothing!

Thanks to @drhex , @AlanJ and @pinballmania for the advice and help.

Thanks also to @Ant-H and @Ragnar1057 for dealing with my WhatsApp spam.

:). Still mystery switch bounces…
Col's machine does it too.

Just seems to be the vicinity of the Flipper to the switch.

When I took the switch plate off the playfield and just held it. The issue went away.

I've managed to kill Opto Reel 2 I think when I reversed that diode in the trough area. Changed the opto's no dice. Love how the manual shows the incorrect orientation.

Reversing the diode should not damage anything.
You'd think right.

When I reversed the diode on ball switch 3 as per that assembly diagram/illustration. Opto reel 2 stayed permanently on.

I haven't since tested this until I resolved my extra ball during ball save.

I suspect the lm339 (or whatever it's called) has died, at least partially.

Now I don't know what you did but Through 2 is switch 17 while Reel 2 is switch 38 - those are completely different rows and columns. As long as other switches work on column 3 / row 8 (e.g. Through 3 / Reel 1) your switch matrix is OK. The Opto may be shot but I'd suspect a lose cable or such. Reversing/shorting a diode or switch will not damage the matrix.

Hmm ok the diode I reversed was trough 3.

Looking at this they are on the same row.

Ah OK, thought you reversed through 2. Anyway, logic still stands, if you had fried row three none of the switches in the row would work, they all share the same logic. Not sure how the cable is looped, could it be that it got disconnected behind Through 3?

So the opto board services reel 1 and 2 only no other switch.

On pin 1 I'm getting like 0.56v while on pin 2 I'm getting 12v.

It could still be a break in a wire I suppose but my money is on me trying that lm339 chip

Scratch that still being a spaz wire for White grey was loose for trough 3! All working!
